The highly anticipated Crown Tundra DLC pass for Pokémon Sword & Shield has finally arrived, and it includes some older-gen Pokémon for players to find, collect, and add to their party. The DLC introduces the Crown Tundra area of the Galar region, which is home to many Galarian Pokémon, every remaining Legendary Pokémon, and plenty of new locations to explore. There are over 200 new Pokémon for players to find, catch, and bring along in their party. The DLC brings Tyrantrum into the game, allowing players to capture this dinosaurian Rock and Dragon Type behemoth, as long as they know where to look.

Players can find Tyrantrum and its pre-evolution form, Tyrunt, both in the new Ballimere Lake area at the southernmost point of the Crown Tundra area. Tyrunt is technically a fossil Pokémon, but unlike the other fossil Pokémon available in Sword & Shield, Tyrunt and Tyrantrum are already alive and do not need to be assembled. To capture one of these creatures, players should bring along a Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ice, Dragon, or Fairy Type Pokémon. Here’s how to find and catch Tyrantrum in Pokémon Sword & Shield: The Crown Tundra DLC.

Find Tyrantrum in Pokémon Sword & Shield Crown Tundra DLC

Players will find Tyrantrum, and its pre-evolution form Tyrunt, in the southern part of the Ballimere Lake area, south of the tree. Tyrantrum is most likely to appear in the Overworld, either on the island at the Lake or around the outside of it.

It may be a good idea to pay attention to weather conditions. Players may have the best luck finding Tyrantrum when it is sunny, just as they do with Tyrunt.

Catch Tyrantrum in Pokémon Sword & Shield Crown Tundra DLC

Catching Tyrantrum can be tricky if players aren’t careful. Many of the Tyrantrums found in the wild can easily be over Level 60, and they have access to some very powerful Ground Type attacks. Players will want to use a Pokémon with Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ice, Dragon, or Fairy Type moves. It may also help if that Pokémon can fly, as this will make it easy to dodge Tyrantrum’s attacks.

Players should try not to completely defeat Tyrantrum, as this could prevent them from catching it. Instead, they should work on chipping its health down a little. Once Tyrantrum’s HP is in the red, the player can try to make the catch. It will be best to use a specialty ball, like the Ultra Ball, to hold Tyrantrum more easily.

Players can also always catch Tyrunt first and then evolve it into Tyrantrum. Tyrunt can be found anywhere Tyrantrum is, in every weather condition except Snow and Hail. To evolve Tyrunt into Tyrantrum, players need to level it up during Sunny weather conditions.
