While the mainline titles are already on generation 8, players can expect Pokemon only up to generation 6. Yanmega is the evolution of the 2nd generation Pokemon, Yanma. A massive part of the 4th generation was the reintroduction of older Pokemon that never really got a moment in the limelight. Pokemon like Lickitung, Tangela, Magmar, Electabuzz, and more all received additional forms. Yanma was a fairly basic Pokemon in the 2nd generation that wasn’t very viable as a casual capture or competitive Pokemon. In Pokemon Go, the game streamlined how players can obtain these Pokemon by putting them all together into the Sinnoh Stone. This item is used as an evolutionary item in the game. This guide will show players how they can obtain Yanmega in Pokemon Go.

How To Find (& Catch) Yanmega in Pokemon Go

Yanma needs 2 things in order for it to evolve into Yanmega.

  • 100 Yanma Candy: This can be collected by capturing more Yanma or setting Yanma as your buddy. After a certain distance, it will find 1 candy. Players can also use Pinap Berries during wild encounters to double the amount of candy that is collected after the capture.
  • A Sinnoh Stone: This is the harder of the two items to collect. The best way to collect one is by completing PvP Trainer Battles, defeating a Team Rocket Leader, collecting the 7th day Field Research reward, and can possibly be the Mystery Item in the Go Battle League.

Put these two items together and the player will have themselves a Yanmega. The Sinnoh evolutions are amongst the most challenging Pokemon to get in the game. It has nothing to do with the candy but rather the Sinnoh Stone. Occasionally, Pokemon Go will host events where players can obtain Sinnoh Stones as a reward. One of the previous events in 2020 provided 3 Sinnoh Stones that were essential to completing the Sinnoh Dex. As more Pokemon are introduced into the game, hopefully, Sinnoh Stones are made easier to come by.
