How to Find (& Defeat) Great Baggi in Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise features a well of returning Monster from previous titles, including the Great Baggi. The Great Baggi was originally introduced in Monster Hunter 3 and has been in several titles to date including Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and most recently Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The Great Baggi is one of several kinds of monsters that are often accompanied by small, regular-sized versions of the Boss Monster – in this case Baggi.

The Great Baggi is classified as a Bird Wyvern with a one-star threat – the lowest level threat that a boss monster can have. However, it’s the perfect starting Monster for players new to the game or series. With a few dodges and well-timed attacks, new Hunters will be able to easily conquer this Monster and reap its rewards.

How to Find (& Defeat) Great Baggi in Monster Hunter Rise

The Great Baggi is native to the Frost Islands and can be found in random encounters when hunting other Monsters, or on Expeditions to the Frost Islands. Finally, the Great Baggi can be found on one of four different hunts for the Monster itself.

• Out Cold
• No Cure for the Common Baggi
• Didn’t Get the Memo
• Learning the Light Bowgun

The Great Baggi in Monster Hunter Rise has a relatively easy moveset to anticipate and fight against. The Great Baggi will first begin to attack Hunters who are too close to it, as it is territorial. Its attacks involve a lot of tail swinging and head-smashing, and the Great Baggi loves to spit up a ball of light blue mist that puts characters to sleep. Luckily, a quick hit from either an accompanying will prevent players from falling asleep. Lastly, the Great Baggi will attack with a sideways shoulder charge. All of its moves involve a bit of a wind-up, making the Great Baggi’s attack pattern easy to predict and dodge or block.

The Great Baggi has a weakness to Fire, Water, and Thunder elemental damage, and is resistant to Ice and Dragon elemental attacks. While it has full resistance to Sleep ailment, the Great Baggi has a three-star weakness to Paralysis, Blast, and Exhaust alignments, and a two-star weakness to Fireblight. Using cut damage with weapons like the Greatsword or Longsword on its head is the most effective method to breaking the head of the Great Baggi, followed by blunt damage and then ammo damage.
