Royal Monsters are amongst the most difficult enemies in Monster Hunter Stories 2. This guide will show players how to locate and defeat these powerful creatures. The Nintendo Switch has received two quality but different Monster Hunter titles in 2021. With Monster Hunter Rise releasing earlier this year, players have been able to experience a traditional real-time action Monster Hunter experience. Monster Hunter Stories 2 slows it down a bit as the main gameplay is turn-based. Players will spend much of their time collecting monsters to add to their party or farming for materials to get better armor and weapons. For those looking for top-shelf items, they will need to take down Royal Monsters. This guide will show players how they can find and defeat them.

Royal Monsters are special breeds of creatures that drop valuable materials when defeated. Normally, players are pushed to defeat them when they are later in the game with stronger gear. In theory, players can head to these locations and face them as soon as possible but the chances of beating them will be slim with weaker gear. They have the ability to take down the entire team within a single hit. Players will need to be ready when taking on Royal Monsters. Here is where players can find them and the elements used to defeat them.

1 Every Royal Monster Location and Weakness in Monster Hunter Stories 2

There are 6 Royal Monsters in the world for players to find. Here is where to find them.

  • Royal Tigrex: Located in Alcala Valley. Its weakness is electric attacks and slashing at its head.
  • Brute Tigrex: Located in Lamure at Sadona Barrens. Its weakness is Electric attacks and blunt attacks to the head.
  • Royal Monoblos: Located in Inner Harzgai Hill. Its weakness is electric attacks and piercing its horn, stomach, or tail. Players can also slash at its stomach.
  • White Monoblos: Located in Lamure at Jalma Highlands. Its weakness is Electric attacks and piercing attacks to its horn, legs, and tail.
  • Royal Gammoth: Located in Loloska near the Woodland Catavan Stand. Its weakness is Fire and blunt attacks to its legs, head, and body. Players can also slash at its nose and tail.
  • Royal Zinogre: Located in the Lavina Glacial Peaks. Its weakness is Ice and piercing attacks on the body and head. Slash attacks on the tail also work well.

Each of these drops high-value material for crafting weapons and armor. Players should try and take these monsters on for the ultimate test. It can be attempted in the early game, but players will likely struggle to try to fight them any sooner than they should. More Royal Monsters may join the roster in the future.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is available now on Nintendo Switch.
