Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin requires players to partake in a lot of repeat battles against Monsters in order to fully upgrade the gear that can be built from their parts. While most players receive enough pieces of gear from their first encounter (and victory) with a Monster, they’ll need to find that Monster multiple times in order to receive every item needed to fully upgrade their weapons and armor. With the exception of a few Monsters who mainly provide Raw Meat, virtually every Monster has specific armor and weapons that can be crafted from its parts. Players unlock these weapons and armor only after defeating the Monster, but thankfully the story has players fight the majority of Monsters in Wings of Ruin.

Players familiar with the Monster Hunter series will see many familiar crafting items in Monster Hunter Stories 2 that aren’t Monster exclusive, but rather type of Monster exclusive. For example, Flame Sacs and Electro Sacs are often associated with Monsters that deal that type of damage. These kinds of crafting materials aren’t typically required for the base crafting of new weapons and armor, but they become increasingly important as players try to upgrade said gear. It’s common for weapons and armor made from Monsters that drop these types of materials to need an elemental Sac for a later upgrade. The Pukei-Pukei Blooming Arch Bow is a perfect example of this, as it requires three Poison Sacs to fully upgrade.

How to Find (& Farm) Poison Sacs in Monster Hunter Stories 2

The Pukei-Pukei is a Monster that was originally introduced in Monster Hunter: World and quickly became a staple Monster for the larger genre. It’s often a stronger Monster that players face early on, providing a challenge as one of the first larger Monsters they’ll have to fight. In Monster Hunter Stories 2, the Pukei-Pukei is a Monster that players will fight before leaving Hakolo Island, and it’s also the first Monster that players can use to farm Poison Sacs. After defeating the Pukei-Pukei once in the story, players will be able to fight it around Hakolo Island in locations like Rare Monster Dens.

The Pukei-Pukei uses a lot of poison-based moves, and if one of the player’s team is afflicted by the poison they’ll lose a bit of health every turn. This can make the fight difficult if players aren’t paying attention to their health, or the health of the party. One of the more challenging aspects of this fight is that the Pukei-Pukei also uses Technical attacks almost exclusively. Players should consider having Bulldrome as part of their Monstie party. Players without a Bulldrome can make it easier to find its egg by using a Paintball.

Bulldrome is the strongest Power attack Monstie this early on in Monster Hunter Stories 2, making it the perfect partner for this fight. Additionally, as mentioned before, the Blooming Arch Bow is made from Pukei-Pukei parts and needs Poison Sacs for its final upgrade. This Bow is the strongest Pierce-type weapon for a while, making it highly sought after in the beginning stages of Monster Hunter Stories 2.
