Considered to be one of the most anticipated indie-games coming out of PAX 2020, Spiritfarer has delivered as an explorative RPG sprinkled with a few Sims mechanics. Players control Stella, and she is not your average guide to the underworld. She’ll cook, build, and explore to fulfill the bucket lists of traveling spirits as they make there way to the other side.

Stella’s tasks will vary between mining, fishing, cooking, and many others. As the game progresses, she’ll unlock new additions to her ship allowing her to complete different levels and variants of tasks. Some Spirit’s will naturally progress Stella through the game where others fall into the side-quest category. In both cases, Stella will need to gather certain ingredients such as fat to complete recipes to meet her Spirit’s needs. This guide will focus on how players can easily obtain fat in Spiritfarer.

Spiritfarer: How & Where to Find Fat

As the game progresses, Stella will eventually meet Bruce and Micky, brothers with a fraternal bond unlike any other. Micky, a water buffalo, remains quiet as his brother, Bruce the mockingbird, speaks on his behalf. The brother’s questline is imperative to making fats in Spiritfarer as they will give Stella the blueprint for ‘The Crusher’.  Players should have upgraded their ship enough to break through the Rock Barrier. If not, they’ll need to visit Albert’s Shipyard to find the upgrade.

The Crusher – Materials

  • 7 Pulsar Ingots – Made from Pulsar Ore gather from Pulsar Rays.
  • 15 Ash planks – Made in the Saw Mill from Ash Logs found in places such as Oxbury, Ambertown Park & Sunspring Square
  • 5 Zinc Ingots – Made from Zinc Ore found in Flotsam Shores and Southpoint Docks.

Once Stella has constructed The Crusher, she can… well… crush seeds and olives to make oils. Oils are the fats needed for certain recipes such as Fried Chicken. The oils are also helpful in elevating other meals for heightened taste or fried versions. Sunflower seeds will make sunflower oil, and olives will make olive oil.

Players can find the seeds needed for fats all over the world. They can also save themselves a few trips and harvest the seeds they have growing in their gardens. The Crusher is also used for making different powders. For example, limestone will make lime power and coal will make carbon powder.

Spiritfarer has become a sort of emotional rollercoaster for players. They grow attached to the spirits on their boat while ignoring the hard truth that those spirits are only there to pass on to the other side. Hopefully, a little bit of fried chicken will ease their journey. The game is widely available to players on all consoles.

Spiritfarer is available on PlayStation,  Xbox One, Nintendo Switch & PC
