The new Pikmin 3 Deluxe Edition stays faithful to the original Wii U version of the game, and veteran players will be able to find many of the collectibles in the same locations they have always been. In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, players control three captains as they search a mysterious planet called PNF-404 for food they can bring back to their homeworld, which is suffering from a famine. Along the way, the player will collect small, plantlike alien creatures with special abilities. These alien creatures are called Pikmin, and they can help the players solve puzzles, fight enemies, and collect food and other resources. As players adventure around PNF-404, they will come across optional upgrades they can add to a captain’s spacesuit.

The Scorch Guard Upgrade is one optional suit upgrade players can find, and it will grant them a bonus fire resistance. Finding this upgrade isn’t too difficult, but players are going to need quite a few Pikmin, especially Blue and Winged Pikmin, to get the job done effectively. The Scorch Guard Upgrade can be found in exactly the same location it was found in the Wii U version of the game. Here’s how to find and collect the Scorch Guard Upgrade in Pikmin 3 Deluxe.

Find the Scorch Guard Suit Upgrade in Pikmin 3 Deluxe

The Scorch Guard Suit Upgrade comes late in the game, and given players will likely want Winged and Blue Pikmin with them to help retrieve it, it may be the last upgrade they find. Players will find the Scorch Guard Suit Upgrade in the fourth area of the game, the Twilight River. Its likely players will need to wait until after fighting the main boss of the Twilight River to reach the upgrade.

Upon landing at the Twilight River, players will need all three of the captains and a good number of Pikmin with them to set themselves up to find and retrieve the upgrade. From the landing site, travel across the blue mosaic bridge to the right of the site. They’ll need to travel up the black paper bag ramp and continue down the path until they reach the ledge just beyond the two upright branches with orange leaves in the road, just left of the electric gate.

The Scorch Guard Suit Upgrade is buried in the dirt on the ledge. Players will want to send Pikmin to dig it out. Any Pikmin type can take care of this easily.

Players also need to be careful of obstacles in the area, especially enemies like the Burrowing Snagret or Desiccated Skitter Leaves, while carrying the upgrade back to the ship to be analyzed and used. It might be a good idea to clear enemies and obstacles out of the way first, then dig up the upgrade and bring it back down the same path to the ship. Flying Pikmin who aren’t as likely to drown, and Blue Pikmin, who are water-resistant, will be helpful in clearing enemies from these areas.

Players can equip the upgrade once it has been analyzed. They will want this option particularly with enemies that deal fire damage to protect them in combat.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is available for the Nintendo Switch.
