When players are not raiding a monastery or conquering the Saxons in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, they can instead build up their settlement, explore the various regions of Norway and England, and collect a ton of helpful materials by hunting. In Valhalla, players control Eivor, a Viking warrior leading their people in battles for a foothold in England. As they explore the different regions of the map, they will find new creatures they can hunt and fish for crafting materials. There are also nine creatures, about one in every major area of the map, that are larger and more valuable, but also more difficult, for players to find and hunt. These are Legendary Animals, and hunting all nine of them will offer players excellent rewards and the Master Hunter Trophy/Achievement.

In the Hordafylke region of Norway, players will find the Bear of the Blue Waters. This is a Legendary Polar Bear. If players can defeat it, they will earn XP, area mystery progress, and more materials. Like the Blood Swine, the Bear of the Blue Waters is one of the most dangerous and highest-level Legendary Animals the player will fight, so they will need to be prepared for it. Here’s how to find and defeat the Bear of Blue Waters in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

How to Find The Legendary Bear of the Blue Waters in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

According to legend, this massive polar bear is made of ice and the product of an affair between Thor and Freyja. It is said its fangs, “thirst for the eyes of the idiotic.” It has swords and arrows sticking out of its back and a few powerful attacks that can devastate the player if they aren’t careful.

Players will find the Bear of Blue Waters on a small ice cap off the coast of Norway, in the Hordafylke region. This is the area the players won’t be able to access at the start of the game. The bear’s exact location will be marked on the map by a blue pawprint symbol. The island is so small, the entire landmass serves as the boss arena for this fight.

Once players set foot on the island, the fight will trigger, and it will be a matter of survival. The bear’s two main attacks are to charge, which it does almost immediately once Eivor arrives at the island, and to get in close and swipe with its large front paws.

To defeat the Bear of the Blue Waters, players will need to stay behind the bear at all times, preferably close to its back legs. This fight will be a test of strength, as the bear is particularly hardy and won’t easily lose HP. Avoiding its front paws and staying mobile will give Eivor the upper hand.

Players should make sure they’re somewhere between 270-320 Power before going after this creature to give themselves the best chance at winning since the bear hovers around level 310. Players will also want to save the game prior to starting the fight in case it goes wrong, and they will need to stock up on Rations to make sure they have a way to heal after particularly heavy blows.

For finding and defeating the Bear of the Blue Waters, players will receive XP, +1 Hordafylke Mystery, 12 Leather materials, and the Priestess Carving Schematic. They will also get the head of the polar bear mounted on their wall if they bring it to Wallace.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox One.
