Stranded Deepis another crafting spin on the survival genre, this time set in the great expanses of an endless ocean. Though players will have to overcome numerous obstacles to survive, there are many resources available on the islands they can use to their benefit, such as the Pipi plant.

The Pipi plant is one of the plants found throughout Stranded Deep’s Pacific Ocean. Players wishing to survive will find this plant just as useful as shelter or food, as it’s needed to craft two very important items. Here’s what those items are, and how players can get their hands on the Pipi plant.

Everything to Know About Stranded Deep’s Pipi Plants

Pipi plants have yellow flowers that grow in the middle of a group of leaves. The plant can be found growing on the game’s islands close to the shore, but because they spawn randomly, how fast a player will find them will vary by how generous the procedural world generation is. However, survivors don’t need to rely on harvesting them in the wild for their supply, as farming plots can be used to farm them repeatedly. Once players have Pipi plants in their inventory, here’s how they can be used to aid their survival.

Antidote

  • Pipi plants are a vital ingredient for crafting antidotes. Consuming one will cure poison, a near-universal status effect in gaming that slowly depletes the player’s health over time. In fact, antidotes are the only way for the player to cure poison in Stranded Deep unless they’re willing to live with it as the poison fades away (which can take a while). Considering there are a wide array of creatures capable of poisoning the player, from snakes to sea urchins, this is an essential item for survivors to have in their inventory. All that’s needed is one Pipi plant and a coconut flask, which is made by combining a coconut with a lashing.

Shark Repellent

  • Next, pipi plants are one of the materials necessary for creating shark repellent, which keeps aggressive sharks away from the player. Because hammerheads and goblin sharks stalk biomes hiding useful resources, players will want to ward them away with the repellent to make their exploration a little safer. Coincidentally, if players are able to make antidotes, one-third of the repellent is ready. Another third is the Lion Fish, a sea creature that isn’t hostile but will poison those who come into contact with it. Yet another reason why having antidotes, and by extension, pipi plants are important, as it will alleviate any fear players have of accidentally contracting poison while hunting the fish. Once the antidote, the Lion Fish, and another coconut flask are crafted together, players will be able to use the repellant to swim a little more safely: all thanks to the pipi plant!
