Becoming one of Steam’s best sellers, Valheim puts players into the shoes of a deceased Viking warrior as they explore, build, and conquer in a mystical realm of the same name. Taking heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, players are expected to explore the vast landscape as they attempt to bring order to the realm.

Players may come across trophies while traveling. Taking the appearance of the head of a specific monster, these trophies can be used in several recipes depending on the trophy type. Ranging from deer trophies to troll trophies, trophies can be found in great abundance. One of these trophies includes the drake trophy, so below is a guide on where to find them and what they are used for.

How to Get Drake Trophies and What They’re Used For

Drake trophies can be obtained from, unsurprisingly, drakes. Located in the snowy mountain biome, these drakes can often be found guarding their nests which can sometimes contain dragon eggs. They are an air-based creature, and they will circle around the player as they try to pelt them with frost breath attacks that can significantly slow down the player. Often appearing either alone or in groups of two, killing them is easy enough if the player has a bow with them and continually moves diagonally to avoid their breath.

But the drop rate of the drake trophy itself is surprisingly low. So players shouldn’t be surprised if they have to kill a small army worth of drakes if they want to find it. The good news is that while they are doing that, they can also collect a substantial number of freeze glands from the remains of all of the drakes they are killing. These glands are a vital component of frost arrows, which some players may find useful later on.

But once the player kills several drakes, they should obtain a drake trophy or two. It has two uses: as a decoration or as a component for one of the pieces of the wolf armor set. Its use as a decoration is self-explanatory, just craft an item stand and place the drake trophy on it to serve as a vanity piece. A testament to the player’s strength. But most players will likely want the drake trophy to craft the Drake Helmet headpiece. Requiring 2 drake trophies, 20 silver, and 2 wolf pelts, the helmet is an important piece of equipment if players want to acquire a full set of frost-resistant wolf armor.
