The Soulseer Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is one of the newest Deviant Monsters in the game, and players can complete a quest to get an egg. Deviant Monsters are a class of subspecies branching off from well-known Monsters throughout Monster Hunter. In Monster Hunter Stories 2, Deviant Monsters are powerful endgame Monsters that have strengths far beyond that of the mainline species – and, in some cases, they even outclass Elder Dragons.

Soulseer Mizutsune is a Water elemental Speed Monster that actually uses a lot of fire attacks, switches Power attacks when it’s enraged, and it is weakest against Thunder elemental attacks. Soulseer Mizutsune is also the best Water elemental Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2. Anyone looking to beat this Monster, and potentially add it to their team, should bring Boltreaver Astalos or Kirin to exploit Soulseer Mizutsune’s weakness. Additionally, Soulseer Mizutsune’s body, tail, and legs are weakest to Slash and Blunt charged damage.

The quest for Soulseer Mitzutsune is called “Co-Op 8:(Explore) Water Eggs.” Soulseer Mizutsune isn’t the only Monstie available here, as the quest is filled with other Water elemental creatures from Monster Hunter Stories 2. Players can use high-tier Expedition Tickets to get better eggs during this quest and apply the Finding Charm for an increased chance of hatching a Monstie with rare genes.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: How to Get a Soulseer Mizutsune Egg

The Soulseer Mizutsune egg can be grabbed after defeating the Monster. The egg looks like a slightly darker Mizutsune egg. After defeating Soulseer Mizutsune, the armor associated with the Monster will be available. The Soulseer Armor+ armor perks are Sealbreaker (L), Self-Heal (L), and Dancer (XL). Additionally, the Soulseer Mizutsune weapons are a healing song-set Hunting Horn, a Sword and Shield, and a Greatsword. Another quest will be added on September 16 called “(Slay) Soulseer Mizutsune,” allowing more parts to be farmed.

Unfortunately, Soulseer Mizutsune does not have any strong water attacks in its default gene pool. Still, there are plenty of Water eggs that can be found throughout this quest that can contain genes to pass on to Soulseer Mizutsune through the Rite of Channeling.

Finally, Soulseer Mizutsune has two new Monster Hunter Stories 2 skills called:

  • Groom – Speed Water Gene (L) unlocked at Level 15. Moderately increases the user’s water attack, but moderately lowers thunder defense for three turns.
  • Foxflame Trap – Speed Trap Gene (XL) unlocked at Level 40. Sets a fire trap that activates after two turns. Medium chance to inflict a Burn effect, but it cannot be set if the Monstie loses a Head-to-Head.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch.
