Collecting resources is an important part of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town gameplay. Items like wood, ore, and grasses make up the primary building blocks for a number of important crafting recipes needed to progress a farm. However, like past Story of Seasons games, gaining access to some of these items requires skill levels and certain tasks to be accomplished. This is the case for mining Gold Ore. While not as rare as certain gemstones or Orichalcum, Gold Ore won’t be accessible when first starting the game, and finding it requires some hard work.

Currently, there are four different ore types in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town to be mined and processed into Ingots using Maker Machines. Players can find Iron, Silver, Gold, and Orichalcum Ore by mining in one of the three different mines found in different areas of the farm. Both raw ore and ingots are required for different crafting recipes, as well as upgrades for tools and buildings, or to complete quests at the Town Hall. Because of this, keeping a good amount of every kind on hand is important.

There are three different ways to obtain Gold Ore in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Each can take a while to gain access to, but once unlocked can be used simultaneously to amass a good quantity of Gold Ore. Before unlocking Gold Ore, players can take a few steps to help make mining the higher quality ore less difficult. Upgrading the Hammer to the Silver level as soon as possible, as well as increasing bag space to hold many stacks of items at once will help prepare a player for diving deep into the gold mines.

Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town – Gold Ore Mine

Gold Ore naturally spawns outside of the mine in the third Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town farm area daily. It is also found as an uncommon spawn on all levels of the third mine. Gold Ore cannot be found in the first or second mines, regardless of what level the player reaches. To access the third mine, players must first repair the bridge to the second farm area, and then clear the debris blocking the third area. They must also repair the bridge leading to the outcropping that acts as the entrance to the third mine. This is an expensive set of tasks, and can take most of the spring and summer season to accomplish. Below are the requirements to unlock each area.

  • Second Farm Area Bridge – 15 Lumber or 5,000 Gold Coins.
  • Third Farm Area Debris Cleanup – 50 Solid Lumber, 20 Silver Ingots, 50 Mortar or 20,000 Gold Coins.
  • Third Area Bridge Repair – 30 Supple Lumber, 10 Silver Ingot or 30,000 Gold Coins

Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town – Stonebreaker Valley

A faster way to obtain a large amount of Gold Ore is by traveling to Stonebreaker Valley after talking to the Earth Sprite on the farm. Stonebreaker Valley is unlocked at Mining Level 9. Getting up to Level 9 in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will take time and dedication and is worth the effort not just for the new location, but also for the crafting items that unlock with it. Stonebreaker Valley is a space filled with randomly generated stones for every kind of ore available in the game. Once cleared by the player, a random amount of stones will regenerate every day. A visit should be paid to Stonebreaker Valley every few days after unlocking it to get the maximum mining benefits.

The easiest way to mine Stonebreaker Valley is by upgrading to the Gold Hammer as soon as Gold Ore is available. This will save stamina and cover more area when using the “Charged” skill, making the mining process fast and efficient. Doing so will also give a steady boost to a player’s Mining Skill, while also providing the much-needed ore for other farm equipment and building costs.

Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town – General Store & Earth Sprite Village

Gold Ore can be purchased in two places in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. The first is the Sprite Village. At the beginning of the game, tiny creatures can be seen scuttling away from the main character as they go about their daily farm chores. These are Harvest Sprites. After collecting 25 of these little, white creatures, the Earth Sprite Village will become available. To travel to the village, players must interact with the striped Earth Sprite standing next to their home. Gold Ore will become available to purchase in the Sprite Store run by the Boss Sprite after the player has leveled up the Stone Sprite enough. Each piece will cost 150 Sprite Coins.

The other option is to purchase the Gold Ore from Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town’s General’s Store. While this seems like a convenient and easy way to get ore, it is actually a big waste of money. Once a player ships a piece of Gold Ore, the item can be purchased from the General’s Store under the “Materials” option for 500 Gold Coins. It takes 5 Gold Ore to make a Gold Ingot, so one ingot costs 2,500 Gold Coins. This is a steep price to skip the work of mining, especially because it takes dozens of Gold Ingots to craft Maker Machines and complete upgrades on Tools, the player’s home, and farm buildings.

The best way to keep plenty of Gold Ore on hand for Story of Seasons crafting is to dedicate an in-game day to mining once a week and delve deep into the third mine. Players will also want to clear the randomly generated Gold Ore stones from the third mine’s entrance daily for a steady supply of ore. Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town encourages resource management, and forces players to think carefully about what financial short-cuts they take, rewarding hard work. Because of this, taking the time to mine Gold Ore is more than worth the effort.
