How to Get Mint Chunks in Grounded

The ability to craft and upgrade better tools and weapons is essential to surviving the perils of the backyard in Grounded. These better items will help players find and collect resources more easily, as well as take on the insects and massive spiders. One of the best weapons in the game, the Tier 3 Mint Mallet, as well as stronger Mint armor and tools, require Mint Chunks. This resource is not a common one and requires players to find and open the Ice Caps Mint Container to get it.

Players will find the Container naturally by playing the main story quest in the game. They’ll need to bring a Tier 2 hammer to get inside the container, so players won’t be able to find Mint Chunks until they are far enough along in the game to access all the required materials and craft a Workbench. Players can harvest Mint Chunks for higher-level crafting. Here’s how to get them.

Make a Tier 2 Hammer in Grounded

Players are going to need a good hammer to get inside the Ice Caps Mint Container to find their Mint Chunks. The only one currently available is the Insect Hammer. To find the recipe for this, players will need to find and kill a Bombardier Beetle and analyze its glands in the Resource Analyzer. The recipe will unlock from there.

To craft the Insect Hammer, players will need four stinkbug parts, four berry leather, and one boiling gland. They will also have needed to unlock and make the Workbench.

Find the Ice Caps Mint Container in Grounded

The Ice Caps Mint Container is simply a lost canister of mints hidden in the grass in the backyard. Players can find it near the starting point of the game, northeast of the first Field Station near the Mysterious Device. When players arrive, they will need to break open the container lid using their Tier 2 Insect Hammer.

Get Mint Chunks in Grounded

The Mints are a bit too large for the character to pick up and use, so the player will want to break them with the Insect Hammer until they become chunks. Players should grab as many chunks as they can carry at once, as this is one of the best resources in the game and will be useful for crafting better tools.

To unlock all the Mint Chunks recipes, bring one of the Mint Chunks to the Resource Analyzer to be scanned. Be sure to note the recipe requirements for these items. Because Mint Chunks are rare, players may want to ration them and choose their craftables carefully.
