Mario Golf: Super Rush lets players take to the green as their favorite characters from the series, as well as some new additions who are picking up the club for the first time. While players have the ability to upgrade their Mii’s stats in the Adventure Mode, they don’t have the same degree of customization over the other playable characters. However, there is a way to alter some of a certain character’s stats so long as players have enough Character Points.

Character Points are a unique scoring system in Super Rush. When one of the playable characters reaches enough points, they’ll be able to unlock new sets of clubs to use in each course! Reaching 1000 with a certain character will unlock their Star Club Set, while reaching 3000 grants access to their Super Star Set. The difference between each club type lies in their control and spin stats, with the Star Clubs exchanging control for spin and the Super Star Clubs exchanging considerably more control for spin. The amount that’s altered varies by each character’s individual stats, so the Super Star isn’t necessarily an upgrade for the Star depending on the situation. Despite their stat differences, all the playable golfers earn character points in the same way, so here’s how to do so.

Earning Character Points in Super Rush

Compete in Each Game Mode

  • The main method of gaining character points is by playing each of the game modes with whatever golfer the player wants to level up. Whether it be putting on the standard golf courses, dashing in the fast-paced Speed Golf mode, or scoring points in the chaotic Battle Golf, players will earn more character points. Remember, playing as a different character in each game mode will only accumulate points for that character, so try finding a few ‘mains’ to pour time into. Otherwise, it will take a long time to get the Super Star clubs for all 16 characters in the base game.

Complete Holes in Less Swings

  • Playing rounds of golf will help build up character points, but to gain as many points as possible, players need to win holes with as few swings as possible. Getting a hole-in-one will net the most points, and each subsequent performance tier will reward an appropriate amount of points. This means the better players get at the game, the more points they’ll be raking in.

Play the Solo Challenges

  • Completing Solo Challenges is a great way to earn more points for players who want to quickly unlock the club sets. The two game modes available in Solo Challenges, Time Attack and Score Attack, reward more character points than the others.
