Settlers are a hot commodity in Going Medieval, as they are the ones running this civilization. To get more, players are going to need to pay close attention to events and encounters. Not only to add them to the player’s ranks but also to keep them alive and thriving.

As they play a critical role within the game, there isn’t a way around needing settlers for the community. The problem isn’t so much to find and collect them. Instead, the bigger issue is keeping them around long enough to affect the settlement.

How to Collect and Keep More Settlers in Going Medieval

The only way to gain settlers in the game once it has been started is to wait for random encounters and events. In these events, different dangerous or random things will occur to bring settlers onto the player’s doorstep. Simply select to let them into the settlement to add them to the community. However, make sure to pay attention to the event that caused them to arrive here. Sometimes these encounters will simply be due to the settlers traveling in a random direction and finding this settlement. Other times, settlers can be avoiding a dangerous situation, and letting them into the fold could harm the entire settlement.

For example, if the settlers arrived due to being chased out of their previous residence by bandits, prepare for a raid immediately after sheltering the settlers. To do this players will need to either build a wall or barricade. Whatever the player chooses, it must be completed within two days of the settlers arriving to fight off the upcoming raid. In this situation, also make sure to equip all of the settlers or as many as possible with weapons so they can defend themselves.

This and ensuring the settlers have a place to sleep and weapons to use are the main basic goals. However, for more impatient players, there is another way. By creating a custom scenario. Custom Scenarios are starting points for a new game that players can set the parameters for. Within this option, players can select not only how many settlers they have at the beginning, but also a narrative, season, and other conditions. Once the perfect custom scenario has been built, players can start a new game in the exact setting that they wish to play in.
