How to Get Rivercress Stem in New World (& What It’s For)

New World is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that challenges players to explore a vast land, fight enemies, and gather resources both familiar and magical. Throughout the game, players will face off against each other, as well as increasingly more powerful monsters. Building characters that can defeat strong enemies will require resources and crafted weapons. Certain quests to gain new items will become available as players level up, which requires XP.

Completing quests and building strong, powerful characters are important parts of New World, but gathering various items is equally important. Throughout New World, players will need to harvest a variety of supplies like Azoth or Rivercress Stems for crafting and quest completion. Finding Rivercress Stems is a part of the Weakness of the Ego quest, but they can be difficult to obtain.

While building or expanding settlements, players will need an abundance of New World‘s resources such as Stone, Flint, and Rivercress Stems. There are a few areas in New World where players can find Rivercress. As the name suggests, these plants are found near rivers, but resources are shared in New World, so they may be hard to come across. Players will need to have certain tools and skills in order to harvest the stems from Rivercress plants. The stems are an Arcane resource that players can use for crafting.

Finding Rivercress Stems in New World

Since its launch, New World has been widely popular, so resources may be scarce on crowded servers. However, there are specific areas in the game to find Rivercress plants. These plants can be identified by their blue glow and bulbous orbs. The most populated areas for this resource are southwest of Windsward and along the river bank around Everfall. Alternatively, if players are having trouble finding them in popular areas, they can find more remote locations with water nearby and search for Rivercress plants there.

Obtaining the stems will require a harvesting skill of at least 30 and a Flint Sickle. The Flint Sickle can be crafted at a tier 1 Forge Station using Flint and Wood. The harvesting skill can be enhanced while gathering certain plants, such as Hemp, around the land or from farms. Once players have the appropriate tool and skill level, they can harvest stems from Rivercress plants.

Rivercress Stems are needed for the “Weakness of the Ego” quest, which will have players craft the Common Corruption Tincture at an Arcane Repository. Players will receive rewards from Adiana Theron after crafting the potion. Rivercress Stems are also used in a variety of Arcane recipes including potions and magic weapons.
