Call of Duty should release an Easter-themed game. It seems like each installment in the franchise comes with more easter eggs than the last. Players are all too familiar with the current surprises in Black Ops: Cold War. Die Machine has no shortage of hidden gems for players to enjoy, from dancing zombies to massive forest monsters.

We can expect more to be added to the game as seasons roll out and updates are launched. With Season 1, players can unlock a handful of secret weapons like the Wakizashi Sword. Players have probably noticed enemies running around with a sledgehammer firmly grasped in their hands. This is the key to unlocking Thor’s Hammer (sort of) in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.

Cold War Zombies – How to Unlock Thor’s Hammer

First off, players will have to unlock the sledgehammer melee weapon by completing the appropriate challenge. They’ll have to get 2 kills with a combat knife in 15 different matches. The catch here is that those 2 kills must be in rapid succession. This can easily be done in Cold War by playing the Nuketown 24/7 playlist. Warzone exclusive players will have a considerably hard time completing this challenge. Although, Warzone exclusive players don’t have access to zombie mode, so it’s a moot point.

Once players have the sledgehammer unlocked, they’ll want to equip it as their primary weapon on their zombie loadout. There’s nowhere to buy the sledgehammer off the wall, nor can it be found in the mystery box (yet). To unlock Thor’s Hammer, players will have to upgrade the sledgehammer at the pack-a-punch machine. This will rename the weapon ‘Zjolnir,’ a nod to the mighty god of thunder’s ‘Mjolnir.’

To truly make it ‘Thor’s Hammer,’ players will want to equip the Dead Wire weapon mod to give the hammer lighting damage. While it’s not 100% Mjolnir, this high damage weapon will serve as a nice place holder. Tripled-packed and fully upgraded to legendary, the sledgehammer will be able to kill Megaton splits in only a few swings. It’ll take zombies down easily even in the 30s. However, the lunge is aggressive, and players will find themselves taking damage when attacking a train of zombies. While this method of zombie killing is fun, it’s time-consuming and ultimately impractical. Having Zjolnir on hand to deal with Megaton’s may be a viable strategy, but players are still better off searching for Ray Guns and D.I.E Weapons.

The below video from TheGamingRevolution goes into detail on how to unlock and use Zjolnir.

Funny enough, this isn’t the first time Thor’s Hammer has made an appearance in a Call of Duty game, specifically Black Ops. During Black Ops 2’s campaign, players will find the actual Mjolnir stuck in a pile of dirt. It was only visible when lightning struck during the mission. We’ll see what other pop culture nods Cold War will add to the game. There’s probably more to be found in the current season.
