In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, trainers battle alongside their Pokémon to challenge the Pokémon League and claim the title of Sinnoh Champion. However, in order to do so, not only must they defeat Sinnoh’s eight gym leaders, but they must also learn eight Hidden Moves to navigate the region’s terrain. The final Hidden Move is Waterfall, which players need in order to climb the waterfalls leading to the final fight against the Elite 4 and Champion Cynthia.

Waterfall is a Water-Type move that does physical damage and has a chance to cause the opponent to flinch. It’s a great move to teach to a physical Water-Type Pokémon like Gyarados or Floatzel that has a higher speed stat, and it is one of the more powerful moves that doubles as a Hidden Move in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Still, players are no longer required to teach it to one of their Pokémon in order to use it outside of battle and explore the Sinnoh region.

In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Hidden Moves can now be used from the Pokétch, and using them now summons a wild Bidoof or Bibarel to execute the move rather than a Pokémon in the trainer’s party. Once players receive the Technical Machine TM99, the Hidden Move Waterfall will be added to the menu on their Pokétch so they can use it outside of battle. This move can only be used outside of battle once players have defeated Volkner, the gym leader of Sunyshore Gym, but players won’t be able to get the TM99 until they’ve defeated him, anyway.

Where To Find TM99 Waterfall In Pokémon BDSP

On the beach north of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl’s Sunyshore City, trainers can find Jasmine, the Steel-Type gym leader from Pokémon Gold & Silver’s Olivine Gym. She’s visiting from the Johto region, and, after players defeat Volkner and claim their eighth gym badge, she’ll stop them when they step on the beach and give them five TM99s. After that, they’ll be able to use Waterfall to ascend and descend waterfalls throughout the Sinnoh region by surfing up to them and pressing the A button, or by accessing the move in the Hidden Moves app of the Pokétch.

However, if players need more than five TM99s, they can also find the machine at the Exchange Service Corner of the Battle Park once they defeat the Elite 4 and the Pokémon League Champion, Cynthia. The clerk behind the counter on the right side of the building sells TMs, and players can purchase the TM99 from her for 64 Battle Points. Battle Points can be earned by winning seven consecutive Pokémon battles in the Battle Tower of the Battle Park area.
