By now, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have likely explored and edited every inch of their island as well as explored a multitude of different islands as well. The great thing about the game is that there is no shortage of places to go and things to customize even after the main game has been completed. Despite the wealth of things to do, Nintendo has graced us with a Summer update that has given us a whole new space to explore.

This recent update has added the ability to swim to the game along with a number of other exciting things. Players are likely eager to get into the water and start exploring. Before they do, there are a few things they need to take care of first. This guide will teach you everything you need to know about swimming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Getting the Wet Suit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Before players can get started, they will need to make sure their game is updated. Press the plus button on your Nintendo Switch on the main menu to check for the update. Provide at least 30 minutes for the game to update depending on your internet connection. Once the game has updated, start it up and head to your mailbox. There will be a letter from Nook Incorporated letting players know that the water is now safe for swimming. There will also be a present from Nintendo giving you a Snorkel and a Mask.

There are two places where players can get their Wet Suit. The first place is the Nook Stop. Players can exchange Nook Miles for their Wet Suit. The only issue is that players will have to wait until the next day to get the suit if they take this route. The fastest way to get the suit would be to go directly to Nook’s Cranny and check the cabinet. The Wet Suit will cost 3,000 bells and comes with a basic instruction manual on how to use the suit. Keep in mind that the Wet Suit can not be equipped in the Wardrobe. It can only be equipped from the Inventory menu.

Swimming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To swim, simply go to the edge of the island and continue walking. Your character should automatically jump into the water. Getting back on shore will require the character to walk up the beach. There is no way to climb out of the water on the rocks. When bubbles are present in the water, players can dive down into the water and scoop up sea creatures. These are unique creatures that can be traded for Bells or can be given to Blathers to add to his museum.
