One of the greatest additions to modern Pokemon games is the ability to customize the player character. While not every Pokemon game that has been released in the past decade has had these options, almost any Pokemon game with a physical player-character represented has allowed for some customization. This includes Pokemon GO which was released in 2016 and allowed the player to customize their avatar right from the start.

Over the past four years, Niantic has added different customization options that can be unlocked with in-game currency as well as by completing challenges. These cosmetic items can be worn by the player’s avatar which appears in the overworld at all times and can be shown off to players on their friends list. Some more rare items can only be found under special conditions, and these items are called souvenirs. This guide will show players how to get their buddy to bring them souvenirs in Pokemon GO.

How To Get Souvenirs In Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO recently introduced the concept of buddy Pokemon which allows the player to select one Pokemon that they have caught to accompany them in the overworld. These buddy Pokemon have a variety of functions including collecting evolution candies and fetching items. The player can also interact with their buddy increasing their friendship levels which will result in greater rewards.

Buddy Pokemon can also fetch souvenirs which are rare items that can be collected or worn by the player. Players must first select a buddy Pokemon and then interact with their buddy to increase their friendship to at least an ultra buddy level. In order to get a buddy to ultra buddy level, the trainer will need to earn a total of 150 hearts by interacting with that Pokemon. A buddy can earn 10 hearts a day by walking, feeding, petting, battling, and more. The fastest a player will be able to obtain an ultra buddy Pokemon is 15 days if they complete every daily buddy activity.

Once a buddy Pokemon reaches ultra buddy level they will start to bring the player rare souvenirs as long as that Pokemon is set as the player’s buddy. Player’s love to show off their rare or shiny Pokemon as a buddy, so make sure you select a Pokemon you are proud of so that you don’t have to go through the hassle of leveling up another buddy in the future.
