iPhones can automatically set the time zone based on a user’s location, but this can also be changed manually if required. The popularity of iPhones can be largely attributed to the fact that they just work out of the box, automatically selecting settings and options without any effort on the part of the user. However, Apple also gives users the opportunity to manually change most system settings to their liking.

Setting the correct time zone is critical on a computer or a smartphone, as the date and time on a device depend on that. A wrong date or time can often mean that some apps and websites won’t let that device access its content, which could hamper productivity. All modern operating systems, including Android and iOS, let users manually specify the time zone on their device, and it’s especially easy to do on iPhone.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

To set the time zone manually on an iPhone, the automatic time and date option will first have to be disabled. To do that, open the Settings app and select General. Then go to Date & Time and toggle off the Set Automatically option to access the manual settings. Now tap on Time Zone to change the time zone for that device. On the next page, users will be presented with a search bar at the top. Search for the name of a city and select it from the results. The device will now use the date and time of the selected city.

Turn Off Screen Time Before Changing The Time Zone

On some devices, the automatic time zone option could be greyed out and cannot be disabled manually. In those cases, users will have to turn off Screen Time on their iPhone to proceed. To turn off Screen Time, open Settings and select Screen Time. Now scroll down to the bottom of the Screen Time page and tap on the Turn Off Screen Time option. A Screen Time passcode might be required to make this change. Users will now be presented with a message about what happens when the feature is turned off. Tap on Turn Off Screen Time for a second time to disable the feature. Users should now be able to manually change the time zone on their iPhone.

If an iPhone’s time and date don’t appear correctly after being synced with a Mac, this might be due to the time being wrong on the computer. Mac users will need to open System Preferences and click on Date & Time to correct this. Apple also cautions against changing the date and time on an iPhone to affect the behavior of an app, such as trying to cheat game timers, for instance.
