Petting animals is a favorite past-time of gamers, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is following the petting trend, but with zombie dogs. The Plaguehounds in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are not the cutest pet by far, but all dogs deserve some loving. Petting them, though, takes a bit of effort to do, but at the end of the day, the experience is just as rewarding as petting a real Plaguehound, if they were real, of course.

There are a few different ways to play Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, such as the Multiplayer, Campaign, and Zombies modes where the Zombies mode is where the Plaguehounds are going to get located in the first place. The Zombies mode has had a long and scary history, with the game mode being available in multiple versions of the Call of Duty franchise. There used to be Hellhounds in previous iterations of the Zombie brand with Cerberus, the three-headed version showing up along with cyborg hellhounds. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War brings the first version of the Plaguehounds.

How To Pet A Plaguehound In Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

After selecting the Zombie mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the main menu, the mission that the Plaguehounds inhabit is the Die Maschine one. They will appear when the sky turns a bright green red and can overpower even the best players with their numbers if not careful. One piece of the puzzle is needed to tame these mighty beasts, which is Brain Rot ammo. To get the ammo, players need to upgrade and create the Pack-A-Punch machine. The machine will provide the ability to develop the Brain Rot ammo needed to make the Plaguehounds docile. After getting the ammo, shoot the Plaguehounds with enough rounds, and there is a chance that they will become tame. The amount of time they are tame is 10-15 seconds but should be enough time to run to the hounds and pet them quickly. Once they’re docile, to pet them, push the Use/Reload button when a notification comes up when close to the dogs. Players will get XP for petting them and also a message that says “Good Dog.” They might not be the best of dogs in their zombie states but taming one, if only momentarily, will be at least one dog that’s not attacking until the others are down.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
