Players will spend the majority of their time with The Last of Us Part 2shooting enemies and avoiding horrifying infected humans. The biggest thing that Ellie has on her mind during the game is revenge, and she refuses to let anything get in the way of her earning it. Even people obsessed with revenge need to relax a little ever so often.

The perfect method of relaxation for Ellie in The Last of Us 2 is playing the guitar. This new feature has been added into the game, so anytime the player finds a functioning guitar in the world they can sit down and strike out a few notes. Clever players even have the option of playing entire songs with the in-game mechanics. This guide will show players how guitar playing works in the world of The Last of Us Part 2.

The Last of Us Part 2: How to Play the Guitar

It is actually fairly easy to pick up guitar playing in The Last of Us 2. Players will first need to find a functioning guitar and pick it up. From they will be presented with a circle on-screen divided into six different notes. Players can use either control stick to point to a chord. This will select the chord so it can be played. Players than just need to swipe their finger over the touchpad in order to “strum” the guitar and play that note. If the player wishes they can also just tap the pad in order to pluck individual strings rather than an entire chord.

When a guitar is picked up the game usually makes the player play a required song. Players will just need to follow along with the song and pick the appropriate notes when they are highlighted. If the player strums the wrong note it will flash red. After playing the song correctly though, players will be able to practice with the guitar and play any song they wish. This actually allows the player to experiment and play any real-world songs that they know, or, if they are creative enough, create their own songs if they wish. This obviously isn’t as realistic as an actual guitar, but it’s actually pretty close for a video game that isn’t about music.

The Last of Us Part 2 is available on the PlayStation 4.
