Many of the most popular modded versions of Among Us introduce roles for either the crewmates or Impostors, but some newer mods are gaining traction for completely changing aspects of gameplay. YouTubers and programmers Sub & Fletch recently played a game of Among Us that involves the use of money. Similar to the Bounty Hunter mechanics in Fortnite, the Among Us Money Mod introduces a transactional money system that allows any player to put a bounty on another player and allows crewmates to kill other crewmates for a price. When a crewmate kills a player with a bounty, they earn the associated amount of money.

Crewmates can earn money from completing tasks, and piles of cash will spawn around the map for both crewmates and Impostors to pick up. In meetings, crewmates will use money instead of votes to choose who to eject.  Additionally, Impostors can use money to bribe a crewmate into joining them as an Impostor. This bounty hunting mechanic allows every crewmate to hunt, kill, and exchange money, changing the game and introducing new situations and experiences. Here’s how to play the Among Us Money Mod.

How to Become a Bounty Hunter in Among Us

At the time of writing, the Among Us Money Mod is not currently available for public use. Players who want to get involved with this and other Sub & Fletch mods will need to message creator Sub on Twitter to participate in their modded lobbies. Given its popularity, there is always a chance a version will become available for public download in the future.

When crewmates begin their tasks in Among Us with the Money Mod installed, they will find bundles of cash near most major locations on a map. These bundles are the only way for Impostors to earn money, as they cannot complete tasks. Regular crewmates earn money for completing tasks. In a long task that takes place in multiple locations, like Wires, they must complete all the steps in the task to earn their pay. Players can monitor their funds on a digital counter in the middle of their screen, next to the task bar.

The Among Us Money Mod makes both crewmates and Impostors pay to kill, so Impostors won’t be able to make a move right away. They will need to wait until they have saved enough. Each kill costs $150. In the meantime, any player can use their earnings to place bounties on other crewmates in increments of $30, and there is no upper limit to the amount that can be placed. To do this, they will simply need to stand within range of the player and use the Bounty button. Other players can see the bounty above each crewmate’s head, but crewmates can’t see their own bounty. Any crewmate who saves the needed $150 can kill crewmates with high bounties and collect that money.

When a body is reported or an Emergency Meeting is called, crewmates use money to cast their votes. They can put money on another crewmate in increments of $5, and the crewmate with the most money on them at the end of the voting period will be ejected. Players can effectively vote as many times as they want and determine the fate of any crewmate, as long as they have enough funds.

There are two other buttons available to players using the Money Mod. The first is the Extra Life button. If any crewmate accrues $600 or more, they can exchange it for an extra life that revives them upon being killed. The second is the Bribe button. For $500, an Impostor can bribe another crewmate, turning them into an Impostor as well.
