As players eagerly await the next update to Among Us, many have found new ways to experience the game through modding. Some of the more popular mods for Among Us introduce roles for crewmates or Impostors, often giving these players more abilities and a range of new opportunities to shake up gameplay. Many of the popular crewmate role mods are available right now for players to introduce to their game, including the Sheriff Role and the Jester Role. Many of the Impostor role mods, by contrast, are usually restricted to the content creators and streamers for whom they were made. One of these new Impostor Role Mods is the T-Rex Role Mod, which allows Impostors to transform into a fearsome dinosaur and eat their fellow crewmates.

The T-Rex Role Mod introduces three new abilities for the Impostor. When transformed into a dinosaur, the Impostor can jump, choosing where to land and killing any crewmates unfortunate enough to be caught underfoot, roaring to stun crewmates in place, and eating crewmates, eliminating the ability for others to find and report the body. The T-Rex Role Mod amplifies the horror of Among Us any time a dinosaur appears from nowhere and can create many new experiences and humorous encounters. Here’s how to play the T-Rex Role Mod in Among Us.

How to Become a T-Rex and Eat Crewmates in Among Us

The Among Us T-Rex Role Mod was programmed by @LoafX for SSundee and his friends and is currently not available for public download. Though it is not widely available for download, players may have luck getting into a game that uses this mod by joining a server that has it installed. It is also possible that, given its popularity, a public version becomes more widely available in the future.

When a crewmate becomes the Impostor, they receive the powers of the T-Rex. In the middle of the bottom of their screen, they will see an option to Transform. They can only stay transformed as the T-Rex for a limited amount of time, usually around 30 seconds. While transformed, they will have access to three abilities: Jump, Roar. and Bite. They can also still use Impostor Sabotages and choose to kill using the Kill button.

When Jumping, the T-Rex launches into the air over the Skeld, Mira HQ, or Polus map and can get an aerial view of every room and location. They can see all crewmates from here as well and can select the spot where they want to land. If any crewmates end up underfoot, they will be caught by surprise and crushed to death. Jump has a 30-second cooldown.

The T-Rex can Roar, which stuns any crewmates within range and prevents them from fleeing. This is useful when used in combination with Bite, which lets the T-Rex eat and immediately poop out the unfortunate crewmate. Roar has a 20-second cooldown, and Bite has a 30-second cooldown.

Instead of becoming a dead body for other crewmates to report, a crewmate who has been eaten has no remains, save a little pile of T-Rex poop in the spot where they were killed. These cannot be reported. While bodies of crewmates who were crushed during a T-Rex Jump can be found and reported, the easiest way for crewmates to stop a T-Rex rampage and deliberate is by pushing the Emergency Button. Because of this, Emergency Meetings should not be turned off.

When playing the Among Us T-Rex Role Mod, it is generally preferable to only have one Impostor. This keeps the game fair and balanced, and, as SSundee found during his turn as T-Rex in the video below, it can even be more difficult for an Impostor to pull off a win in this mode.

Among Us is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android.
