TikTok is one of the best social media platforms for growing your brand/online presence, and one metric that can help with this is seeing who viewed your TikTok profile. More so than almost any other social media app, TikTok has proven to be one of the best places to share content and build a loyal audience. This is largely thanks to TikTok’s ‘For You’ page — the home page on TikTok that cleverly shows users videos it thinks they’re interested in. Even if someone has never heard of a particular TikTok creator before, there’s a good chance they’ll see that person’s content on their For You page.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While there’s no magic trick for getting more TikTok views and followers, TikTok offers its users a few tips on how to grow their audience. This includes replying to viewer comments, collaborating with other creators, participating in trending challenges, etc. It’s also important for creators to look at all available analytics. This can include viewing your followers, reading video comments, and studying videos your followers have liked (if they let you see that information).

Another helpful analytic is being able to see who viewed your TikTok profile. Whether it’s a big-name creator or just a random viewer, knowing who’s watching your videos and then digging deeper into your profile can be extremely useful. For a while, this was something all TikTok users could do. You used to be able to open the TikTok app, tap the ‘Inbox’ button at the bottom of the screen, and TikTok would show a notification each time someone viewed your profile. It would show the user’s name and the day they looked at your profile, letting you get a better idea of who was interested in your content.

Why You Can’t See Who Viewed Your TikTok Profile

Unfortunately, this feature has since been removed from TikTok. TikTok disabled its profile view notifications a few years ago in an attempt to make people’s browsing activity more private. It’s disappointing for people who valued that data, but if someone didn’t want other users tracking their activity like that, its removal is likely a welcome change. TikTok creators still get notifications if someone likes a video, comments on it, or follows them, but notifications for viewing another person’s profile are no longer present.

That said, TikTok may bring back the ability to see who viewed your profile. In February 2022, TikTok began testing a feature called ‘Profile Views’ with select users. Only if someone opts in to the feature, TikTok will show creators if that person has viewed their profile in the past 30 days. TikTok notes that “only you can see who viewed your profile” and that “only viewers who turned on their profile view history and viewed your profile in the past 30 days will be shown.” And unlike the old profile view notifications, this new implementation only works if someone manually enables it first. It’s unclear if/when these profile view notifications will become available to everyone, but it certainly seems like TikTok is bringing it back at some point.
