The Samsung Galaxy S22 is an undeniably powerful smartphone with plenty of specs — but how in the world do you turn the thing off? Smartphones become more advanced and capable with each year that passes. From subtle year-over-year changes to generational upgrades, our phones are always getting better. Processors get faster, displays are brighter, and cameras become more advanced.

The Galaxy S22 series is a prime example of how far smartphones have come in a short amount of time. Between the S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra, all three of the latest Samsung handsets have everything you could ask for. Want a phone with a premium and striking design? The S22 has you covered. Looking for the fastest Qualcomm processor and robust camera systems? The S22 fits the bill there, too. All of this is made even more impressive with Samsung’s pricing. Whether you have $1199 or $799 to spend, there’s a version of the S22 that’s bound to be a good fit.

Despite all of that praise, that’s not to say using a phone like the Galaxy S22 is a perfectly seamless experience. Having a phone with endless features and capabilities is great. That is until you can’t figure out how to do something simple, like turning it off. If you have a Galaxy S22 and aren’t sure how to turn off the phone, here’s what you need to do: Grab the S22 and press its power + volume down buttons at the same time. Hold these down until you see a pop-up menu appear. This menu has a few different buttons you can press — including ‘Power off, ‘Restart,’ and ‘Emergency mode.’ Tap ‘Power off,’ and just like that, the Galaxy S22 is turned off. If you want to turn it on again, press and hold the power button until the Samsung logo appears on the screen.

Other Ways To Turn Off The Galaxy S22

While that’s the default way to turn off the Galaxy S22, it isn’t the only option at your disposal. If you find that pressing two buttons to turn off the phone is difficult, Samsung does allow you to change this. Press and hold the power + volume down buttons again to reveal the pop-up menu. However, instead of tapping ‘Power off,’ tap the ‘Side key settings’ at the bottom of the screen. This takes you to the S22’s Side key settings page. Near the bottom of this page is a section called ‘Press and hold.’ If it’s set to ‘Wake Bixby,’ tap the ‘Power off menu’ toggle next to it. Now, you can reveal that power off menu just by pressing and holding the single power button.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S22 also allows users to turn off the phone without pressing any buttons. Seriously! With the phone turned on, swipe down from the very top of the screen to view the notification panel. Swipe down again to see a bunch of different settings. Towards the top right of this page is a power icon. Tap that icon, tap the ‘Power off’ button that appears, and the Galaxy S22 is now off. Keep these steps in mind, use whichever method works best for you, and turning off your Samsung Galaxy S22 will be a piece of cake.
