For the King is a single or multiplayer RPG that encourages players to travel across the realms with a party to complete quests and protect the kingdom from evil. Gather items, collect lore and unlock mysteries and characters to claim victory in the name of the dead king.

Players can choose their character at the beginning of For the King. There are four character classes that are unlocked from the beginning of the game: Blacksmith, Hunter, Scholar, and Minstrel. These classes all have unique skills, stats, and starting equipment that can help a player progress through the game. Other character classes can be unlocked in the Lore Store using Lore, or through storylines. Lore can be earned by collecting a Book of Lore from completing a section of a campaign, defeating enemies, or completing encounters.
