Season 3 of Black Ops: Cold War brings a brand new battle pass containing the PPSH-41 Submachine Gun. Long-time Call of Duty fans remember the PPSH from the past games and are excited to get their hands on Cold War’s iteration of it. Unlocking the PPSH is as easy as buying and leveling up the battle pass. What about the submachine guns that new players may have missed out on from past seasons like the LC-10 and Mac-10? No worries, Zombie mode is here to help.

Aside from new maps, operators, and weapons, Season3 of Black Ops: Cold War also changed the way players unlock guns. Now, Zombie Mode exclusive players can complete challenges in Outbreak, Firebase Z, or Die Maschine. Players preferring the run-and-gun playstyle will want to get their hands on these weapons, especially the Mac-10. If they’ve been paying attention to the Twitch community at all, they’d know the Mac-10 and Bullfrog are some of the best weapons to use in Warzone. This guide will focus on how to unlock new submachine guns in Cold War Zombies.

Cold War Zombies: How to Unlock the Mac-10 and LC-10

Players who missed out on the Season one and Season 2 battle pass will want to get their hands on these Cold War submachine guns, especially the Mac-10. Those trying to unlock the PPSH-41 will have to buy the Season 3 battle pass and level it up. Their other option is to wait until the next season and complete the in-game unlock challenges. In the meantime, players can focus on unlocking the LC-10 and the Mac-10 from the comfort of Zombie Mode. Here’s how.

The LC-10 debuted in the Season 2 battle pass for Black Ops: Cold War. While it wasn’t able to stand up with the likes of the Bullfrog, Mac-10, and MP5 in Warzone, the LC-10 was still a viable weapon choice for multiplayer. To unlock the LC-10 in Cold War Zombies, players must use an SMG to kill 250 enemies while they’re on fire. Here’s the best way to do it.

First off, players will want to equip Napalm Burst to their SMG of choice. Napalm Burst will cause the player’s bullets to deal fire damage. Furthermore, each bullet has the chance to apply a burn effect on normal enemies (special enemies when upgraded). Napalm Burst did receive a huge buff for season three. The 4/21 patch notes state all damage effects for Napalm Burst have been doubled.

Molotov’s are plentiful in Zombie Mode, especially Outbreak. Players will have the easiest time completing any of these Cold War Zombies unlock challenges by sticking to Outbreak mode. They’ll have the most opportunities for kills and point grinding while keeping the difficulty low. Start chucking flaming bottles of booze at groups of zombies. Players can do their best to train zombies through patches of fire on the ground left behind by molotovs as well.

Players can also use Hell Hounds to their advantage. When they explode, Hell Hounds leave behind a puddle of fire. Zombies and players alike that run through the flaming puddle will catch on fire. With Napalm Burst and Molotovs equipped, players should be able to unlock the LC-10 passively as long as they’re using an SMG.

Cold War Zombies: How to Unlock the Mac-10

The Mac-10 is, arguably, the most popular SMG in Warzone and Cold War. It’s quick and deadly with manageable iron sights. Players have been coveting the Mac-10 since its release in Cold War Season 1 and haven’t looked back.

To unlock the Mac-10 in Cold War Zombies, players must use an SMG to get 1,000 kills while they have five or more perks active. The Mac-10 unlock challenge is one many players won’t have to think too hard about, however, it can prove difficult as they climb the waves of Outbreak Zombies. Here’s why.

By the time players have 5 or more perks, they’ve probably made it to round 3 or 4 of Outbreak Zombies. If they’ve been upgrading and Pack-A-Punching their SMG, they should be able to hold their own against most enemies, only having trouble when it comes to Megatons and Krasney Soldats. However, as they near rounds eight, nine, and ten, most if not all base weapons in Cold War become useless. The only viable zombie killing machines are the Ray Gun, Rai-K, and Hauer 77.

To unlock the Mac-10 in Cold War Zombies, players will want to milk rounds four, five, and six of Outbreak for as long as they can. Don’t be afraid to Exfil and start over after amassing 500+ kills. This challenge can be done in one game of Outbreak, but it will take a while. Remember, players can keep track of their progress by editing their class and scrolling over the gun they’re trying to unlock.

For their five perks, players will want Juggernaut, Quick Revive, Deadshot, Stamina-Up, and Elemental Pop. These five will keep their SMGs as lethal as possible while keeping players at full health. Players can also make progress towards unlocking the LC-10 by equipping Napalm Burst to their gun and using Molotovs to set Zombies on fire. Of course, players can have every perk in the game and still complete this challenge, these five are the ideal ones to get first.

The best SMG in Outbreak Zombies to use for this challenge is either the Bullfrog or AK-74u. Because of their large attachable clip sizes, Pack-A-Punching these weapons will turn them into mini-Assault Rifles and LMGs. Players will get the most bang for their bullet while maintaining a quick reload time. This is why Speed Cola isn’t essential to completing these SMG challenges.

It’s a breath of fresh air for Zombie fans to now be able to unlock weapons in Zombie Mode. Some players prefer the pure co-op PvE of Outbreak Zombies far more than the competitive nature of Cold War multiplayer and Call of Duty: Warzone. Outbreak fans are excited to have a new map, Duga, to explore, and have high hopes for the future of Outbreak Zombies in Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
