One of the core gameplay mechanics in Loop Hero is learning how to manipulate the loop and acquire new cards and resources. The main way that players do this is by placing and combining different cards together on the map, which then enables new enemies to spawn in the world. Once this happens the player is able to defeat these enemies in order to get their hands on even better resources than before.

Acquiring new landscape and path cards is one of the most important ways to progress in Loop Hero. One extremely important card type is the River, which will actually take the player quite a bit of effort and time to get their hands on. Doing so is integral to progression though as River Cards pave the way for many different types of enemies to be spawned on the map. This guide shows players how to unlock River Cards.

Loop Hero – How to Unlock River Cards

The problem with getting River Cards is that the player will actually have to unlock a few other things first before they can even start receiving them. To start off the player will need to build either a Field Kitchen or Herbalist’s Hut at their base, which will then allow them to construct a Gymnasium. After constructing the Gymnasium, the player then needs to build both the Supply Depot and Intel Center at their base as well. This will finally allow them to construct the River at their base, which allows them to start collecting River Cards. Doing all of this will take the player quite a bit of time and grinding, so they will want to get started as soon as possible.

The River itself will require that the player has four Orbs of Unity, two Metamorphosis, and 15 Orbs of Expansion. The Orbs of Unity are easy enough to acquire as they are obtained from Swarm or Liquid-type enemies. Metamorphosis isn’t to difficult either because the player receives them by getting 20 Noticeable changes, which is in turn received by triggering a tile combination. Odds are the player will get their hands on both of these resources without really even trying.

The Orbs of Expansion though are pretty tricky to get. The player will receive one by defeating five or more enemies in a single battle sequence. It is very difficult to find a situation where at least five enemies are able to be fought, and it is even more difficult to then bring them down. Keep an eye out and combine different cards together to see if several enemies can be spawned simultaneously. Once all of these resources are acquired the player is then able to create their very own River.

Loop Hero can be played on PC.
