Elden Ring offers players a ton of variety regarding armaments, and some of these can be extremely difficult to get, as the rarest weapons can have a drop rate as low as 0.5%. The rarest weapons in the game are not necessarily always the best. However, quite a few rare drops are indeed very powerful. Yet, this is not the only reason to seek out rare drops, as many players value the bragging rights that come from spending the time and effort needed to acquire weapons in Elden Ring with unique appearances. A few rare armaments in the game also possess unique arts or passives, which may synergize uniquely with certain skills or builds.

Farming rare weapons is ultimately a matter of luck since a 10% drop rate doesn’t necessarily mean that players will find one for every ten enemies they kill. When these drop rates drop as low as 1%, this randomness can often feel unfair, as some players may get unlucky and have to farm hundreds of enemies while others may get on their first or second kill. The most important aspects of getting a rare drop are finding the most optimal farming location in Elden Ring, which includes selecting the best Site of Grace to reset enemies and increasing the drop rate by any means.

Drop rates are closely tied to players’ Discovery attribute, and increasing it will also increase the likelihood of all possible drops from enemies. In addition, players can use runes to level up their Arcane stat to improve Discovery, increasing the damage stats of certain sorceries, incantations, and useable items, such as throwing knives. Players should also try to get and equip the Silver Scarab talisman to get a boost to their Discovery and the Silver Tear Mask to increase their Arcane in Elden Ring. Lastly, players should always try to use the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot consumable item when farming rare items, as it increases the Discovery stat by 50 for three minutes.

Magma Blade

One of the most emblematic rare weapons in Elden Ring is the Magma Blade, a unique curved sword that deals with physical and fire damage. This blade scales primarily with Strength and Faith. In addition, it has a special weapon art, Magma Shower, that spews magma around the user, enabling players to manipulate the battlefield by creating pockets of lava. Although many players prefer to use this weapon with a full Strength build, leveling up Faith in Elden Ring can make it extremely deadly, as it dramatically increases its fire damage, including that of the Magma Shower weapon art.

The Magma Blade has a base drop rate of 1% and can be farmed from the Man Serpent enemies wielding this weapon in the Volcano Manor. However, the Magma Blade is a unique weapon and cannot be enchanted with magic or consumables and will require Somber Smithing stones to be upgraded.

Noble’s Slender Sword and Noble’s Estoc

These swords are two of the most elusive armaments in the game, as they sport a drop rate of just 0.5%. Although they are not necessarily in contention for the best weapons in Elden Ring, they have a particularly unique look, as both are fully coated in gold. The Noble’s Slender Sword is a variant of the Straight Sword and possesses the same characteristics. However, unlike the Noble’s Estoc, which is almost always outclassed by the regular Estoc, the Noble’s Slender Sword has a slight edge over its competition. It sports the longest range out of all other Straight Swords, which can be very useful to catch opponents in PvP or keep enemies at bay in PVE.

Both the Noble’s Estoc and the Noble’s Slender Sword can be farmed from Wandering Nobles in Limgrave, Raya Lucaria Academy, and Altus Plateau, many of which can often be found in caravans that follow the coffins being pulled by trolls in Elden Ring. They can be infused with weapon arts, enchanted with magic and consumables, and require Smithing Stones to be upgraded.

Celebrant’s Cleaver, Rib-Rake and Sickle

The Celebrant weapons consist of the Skull, a Great Hammer, the Sickle, a Dagger, the Cleaver, an Ax, and the Rib-Rake, a Spear. What binds these weapons together in one category is their meager drop rate of 0.5% and their unique passive that rewards players with runes upon landing an attack. This passive varies slightly between each weapon, but upgrading them does not increase the number of runes that players get per hit, which may incentivize some players to keep them at their lowest level to farm more runes per enemy in Elden Ring. Out of the four weapons, the Celebrant’s Skull rewards the most runes per hit, giving players 20 instead of 10. However, the Skull is also the slowest weapon, and players that wish to use these to farm runes may benefit more from the Sickle, as it is the fastest, and its passive does not have a cooldown, unlike the Rib-Rake.

The Celebrant Skull can be found on a corpse in Altus Plateau, but all other variants must be farmed from the Celebrant enemies that wield them at the Windmill Village. They can be infused with weapon arts and enchanted with magic and consumables and will require Smithing Stones to be upgraded in Elden Ring.

Watchdog’s Greatsword

The Watchdog’s Greatsword is a unique-looking Colossal Greatsword that resembles a lump of stone, and although it is not the best in its class, it is still a compelling option for fans of Strength builds. Although this sword doesn’t possess the lowest drop rate, which is 8%, its rarity comes from the fact that only a handful of enemies have a chance to drop it, making the process of farming it quite difficult. On top of their scarcity, these enemies are also very tough and deal a lot of damage, and it is advisable that players use lighting, or strike damage weapons, as they are the most effective at staggering them.

These enemies are the Watchdogs, and they can be found in the Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs and Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave in Elden Ring‘s Mountaintops of the Giants region, and in the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs in the Consecrated Snowfield region. The Watchdog’s Greatsword can be infused with weapon arts, enchanted with magic and consumables, and requires upgrades to Smithing Stones.
