The Vanish Cap allows Mario to turn invisible for a limited time in Super Mario 64. This guide will reveal its location in Peach’s Castle. Super Mario 64 is one of the three games present in Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Players are able to leap into Mario’s biggest 3D adventures on their Nintendo Switch for the very first time. The game also features the full soundtracks for each of the games in the collection. Although, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the only 3D Mario title not present in this collection (aside from Super Mario Odyssey of course). The Vanish Cap is an unlockable cap in Super Mario 64. Here’s how players can unlock it.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

There’s not much new content in this 3D collection. The games themselves only feature higher resolution graphics and textures, but a majority of these games also remain intact as when they were originally released. The version of Super Mario 64 in the collection is the original Japanese version. Within this version, the ability to backward long jump has been removed, an ability that has been crucial for speedruns of the game. In the case with Super Mario 64, many of the secrets of the castle are still in the same locations they were in when the game first released. Here’s where to unlock the Vanish Cap in Super Mario 64.

How To Unlock The Vanish Cap in Super Mario 64

The Vanish Cap can only be unlocked after the player has unlocked access to the basement part of the castle. In this location, there will be a pathway near the entrance of the Hazy Maze Cave level. Head down and swim under a bit to find two pillars slightly above the water. Now, ground pound both of these pillars. This will drain all the water and the moat on the outside of the castle. Go outside and head right to find a hole to a secret level. Follow the path and the Vanish Cap button will be at the end of it. Now, the Blue Boxes with the Vanish Cap will appear all around the castle.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars will only be available until the end of March 2021. It’s unknown why this collection of Mario’s biggest 3D ventures will only be around for a limited time. Not only that, but there are currently no plans to bring Super Mario Galaxy 2 to the Nintendo Switch. It could possibly be released in the future as downloadable content. Regardless, make sure to get this collection before it disappears forever.

Super Mario 64 is available now on Nintendo 64, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, and Nintendo Switch.
