Black Ops Cold War fans are split in three. Some play Warzone, some play multiplayer, and the rest play zombies. In competitive PvP, weapon-unlock challenges have players doing unique things multiple times in a handful of games. However, with the presence of SBMM in multiplayer and Warzone, these challenges can prove, well, challenging. Thankfully, Season 3 of Black Ops: Cold War has changed that.

Season 3 of Black Ops: Cold War has given players many new toys to play with. Players have new weapons and maps and four new operators to take into battle like Wraith, this season’s poster-girl. However, there are weapons from seasons past, like the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle, that Zombies players still want to get their hands on. Here’s how to unlock the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle in Black Ops: Cold War via season 3’s new Zombie Mode challenges.

Cold War Zombies: How to Unlock the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle

Before season 3, players had to get 2 Longshot medals in 10 different matches to unlock the ZRG 20mm. Sniping in multiplayer is not for the faint of heart, as some of the best players online wield sniper rifles. Grinding these challenges can do a number on a player’s K/D and patience, especially when trying to unlock melee weapons. Thankfully, Zombie Mode is here to help.

To unlock the ZRG 20mm in Cold War Zombies, players must use a sniper rifle to kill 50 Manglers after destroying their arm cannon. In comparison, this challenge is probably easier to complete than getting those longshots in multiplayer.

When enough fire is concentrated on a Mangler’s arm cannon, the damage buff is usually enough to kill the Mangler outright. Players going for this challenge are advised to play solo or with friends and claim full responsibility for Manglers. They don’t have to destroy the arm cannon with a sniper; they just have to kill the Mangler once the cannon has been destroyed. But be careful; cannon-less Manglers will charge at players and deal serious melee damage. Don’t dig those sniper-heels in the sand, and make sure to keep some distance. However, killing the Mangler by destroying the arm cannon still counts towards the challenge.

Players should stick to Outbreak Zombies to complete this challenge. They won’t be getting Manglers on Firebase Z until round 14 and, by then, they’ll have too many other zombies to deal with. Outbreak’s first few waves should make this challenge easy. Load in with a sniper rifle, preferably one with an armor damage buff, and start hunting Manglers. Focus all fire on the arm cannon to ensure it’s destroyed. Equipping Cryofreeze will help keep the Manglers in place. It’s also important to avoid Brain Rot if possible. This means ignoring the Eliminate HVT side objectives as it can give players free Elemental Pop.

Cold War’s new Zombie challenges make unlocking weapons for Cold War and Warzone easier than ever before. Unfortunately, for Warzone exclusive players, they’ll have to stick to Plunder to grind the weapons they desire.
