Some fans will be able to watch Wonder Woman 1984 at no cost at all when it finally releases. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the DCEU movie and Wonder Woman sequel has gone through a number of delays, with its final delay sending it back to December 25. Amid concerns that it might be pushed back again, Warner Bros. made a surprising and unprecedented announcement when it revealed that Wonder Woman 1984 would keep its Christmas release date, but it would also become available to HBO Max subscribers on the same day.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 will bring back Gal Gadot’s titular heroine for a reunion with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) in the 1980s, despite the fact that the latter perished in World War I. Following his mysterious and yet to be explained resurrection, Steve will join Wonder Woman for an adventure that will involve two DC Comics villains. Diana will be going up against Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristin Wiig) who will transform into the iconic Wonder Woman adversary, Cheetah. It would seem that the character pulling the strings behind Wonder Woman’s conflict with Cheetah in the sequel will be Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), an extremely wealthy businessman known for his cruel and manipulative nature.

On Christmas Day, viewers will be given a choice on how to see Wonder Woman 1984. It can be viewed either in theaters or on HBO Max, which requires a $14.99 monthly subscription. But it’s been revealed that some AT&T customers can get HBO Max without paying this price, which means that Wonder Woman 1984 can be viewed for free. This applies to people who own certain AT&T packages.

Those who have PREMIER, XTRA, ENTERTAINMENT, MAX, or PLUS packages of AT&T TV or AT&T TV NOW will get free subscriptions to the HBO streaming service. This is also true for customers who have DirectTV with the PREMIER or the LO MAXIMO package, or U-Verse TV with the U400 or the U450 packages. Additionally, this deal extends to a long list of wireless internet plans with AT&T. All of these can be found on AT&T’s website.

Because of this benefit that’s given to AT&T customers, watching Wonder Woman 1984 will be even more affordable and easier for some fans than it already would have been. Previously, Warner Bros’ approach when it came to releasing its movies on HBO Max instead of theaters as planned was to have them be available only to HBO Max subscribers who paid an additional cost for the film. That was what the service did with Scoob! (and not unlike what Disney+ just did with Mulan in September) but Warner Bros. is doing things differently with Wonder Woman 1984 and the remaining movies on its 2021 release schedule.
