Warning! Spoilers for Gamma Flight #2 below.

The Hulk’s son Skaar made a surprise return in the first issue of Gamma Flight, and in a new preview by Marvel Comics, he’s ready to show how powerful he truly is. In the first look at Gamma Flight #2, Skaar returns with a bang as he fights the new superteam and calls himself a god as he takes them on – and honestly, the title isn’t exactly farfetched.

Skaar ended up being the secret villain in the first issue of Gamma Flight, as it’s revealed the Hulk’s son is somehow responsible for the creation of a new wave of Gamma Mutates. Skaar’s return was a complete surprise, as he was last seen being depowered and living off the grid. Previously, Skaar possessed the Old Power, his home planet of Sakaar’s attempt of channeling the Power Cosmic. The power gave Skaar the ability to increase his power even further and made him a powerhouse in the Marvel Universe – as he had god-like powers. The timing of Skaar’s return is curious, as he’s rumored to appear in the She-Hulk series on Disney+, so his role in Gamma Flight could hint at his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Either way, seeing the bearer of the Old Power (does he still have it?) back is a welcome sight, even if he’s up to no good.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The new preview for Gamma Flight #2 by Al Ewing, Crystal Frasier, Lan Medina, Antonio Fabela, and Joe Sabino features the Gamma team dealing with the fallout of Skaar’s return. Hulk’s son is after Stockpile, a new Gamma mutate, and the Gamma Flight team is fighting to help her from falling into the wrong hands. Leonard Samson tries to reason with Skaar by telling him he worked with his dad. However, Skaar has none of it as his sole objective is retrieving Stockpile.

Samson and Titania exchange blows with Skaar, who pulls out his sword and asks them if they’ve ever fought a god before. Given his massive strength, potential possession of the Old Power, and his still mysterious connection to the new gamma mutates, Skaar does have god-like powers – especially if he’s helping create the new monsters.

The last page features Doctor McGowan and the rest of the Gamma Flight team trying to fix their communication system to retrieve the team from the fight.

Crusher Creel recognizes the danger his wife Titania is in against Skaar and pleads for McGowan to fix their comms system. Creel knows Skaar packs quite the punch and with his incredible powers, he can do just as much damage as his father, the Hulk, if not more. Skaar’s arrogance isn’t entirely unfounded, as he’s pretty much a god without the title. Gamma Flight #2 could reveal just how powerful he’s become.
