Hulu’s Helstrom Cast & Marvel Character Guide

Who’s in the cast of Hulu’s new Marvel series, Helstrom, and which characters do they play? For the most part, the characters in the 10-episode first season of Helstrom are original to the show, but there are also a few who come directly from Marvel Comics.

Helstrom is confirmed to exist separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and leans into the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe. For the first time ever, the series brings Marvel Comics superheroes Daimon Hellstrom and Satana to the small screen. In the classic comics, the two characters were depicted as the super-powered offspring of Satan himself who end up being opponents of their father’s demonic forces, with Daimon serving as a key member of the Defenders during the 1970s. Hulu’s Helstrom reimagines the two as the children of an evil serial killer whose true nature is a mystery. Certain events draw them together and force them to unite.

Hulu’s Helstrom will follow the brother and sister duo as they navigate through a mystery that pits them against serial killers and demonic beings. To tell their story, the Marvel series has put together a cast of recognizable faces from previous TV shows and movies. Here’s a guide to the cast members featured in Helstrom.

Tom Austen as Daimon Helstrom

Tom Austen, who looks remarkably like his comic book counterpart, plays Daimon Helstrom, one of the show’s two central protagonists. Austen’s take on Daimon is a university professor who teaches ethics. As an expert in all things occult, he uses his knowledge to perform exorcisms and fight demons. He has little patience for those who don’t completely understand his mission. Austen is best-known for playing Jasper Frost through all three seasons of The Royals.

Sydney Lemmon as Ana Helstrom

Daimon Helstrom’s sister is Ana, a woman who runs an auction house while secretly working to stop people who hurt innocents, by any means necessary. The character is portrayed by Sydney Lemmon in her first lead role in a TV series. Lemmon, who played Isabelle in one episode of Fear the Walking Dead, is the granddaughter of legendary Hollywood star and comedic actor Jack Lemmon.

Elizabeth Marvel as Victoria Helstrom

Believed to be incredibly dangerous and unstable, Elizabeth Marvel’s Victoria Helstrom is a patient in a mental institution and the mother of the two main characters. Her character is expected to be integral to the show’s main plot. Elizabeth Marvel, who has had a prolific career in TV, movies, and on Broadway, played major roles in shows such as House of Cards, Manifest, and Homeland. On the big screen, Marvel appeared in the remake of True Grit, Gifted, Lincoln, The Bourne Legacy, and more.

June Carryl as Louise Hastings

June Carryl has guest-starred in a long of TV shows and was part of the main cast for Netflix’s Mindhunter season 2. In Helstrom, Carryl’s character is Louise Hastings (pictured right), the person who runs the hospital where Victoria is being observed. She also shares close ties to the Helstrom family, particularly Daimon.

Helstrom Supporting Cast

Robert Wisdom – The Caretaker:The Wire and Nashville actor Robert Wisdom plays the Caretaker, a friend of Ana, and an expert on supernatural occurrences. The Caretaker is based on the mystical guardian character of the same name in Marvel Comics.

Ariana Guerra as Gabriella Rossetti: Raising Dion actress Ariana Guerra plays Gabriella Rossetti, a woman sent by the Vatican to help Daimon Helstrom investigate supernatural events.

Alain Uy as Chris Yen: Chris Yen is a long-time associate of Ana who works with her in the auction house. His character is portrayed by True Detective actor Alain Uy.
