Tons of amiibo are compatible with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This guide will show players what rewards they can get from each compatible amiibo. Amiibo themselves have been a massive success for Nintendo when they released alongside Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U. Each new wave of these NFC figures came along with fan-favorite characters all across Nintendo’s legacy of gaming franchises. While the steam has certainly died down on collecting these figures throughout the years, hardcore fans still collect some amiibo for their favorite franchises. Now, they come along with a new feature that can be used in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Here’s what players will get with scanning amiibo in the game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity acts as a soft prequel for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of the most critically praised games of the last generation. The entire Zelda formula was flipped on its head with a giant open-world to explore, breakable weapons, allowing players to tackle any challenge at any pace, and giving the player a sense of exploration like the first title in the series. With Age of Calamity, players are able to experience what happened in the ancient war with Link, Zelda, and all the champions of Hyrule. Amiibo figures are also compatible with the game to give players a few extra bonuses. Here’s what players get when they scan amiibo.

On the title screen, players are able to select the “amiibo” option. From here, players can scan any of their amiibo figures, regardless of the franchise or origin. The player will be given a random reward in the game like new weapons or materials. Also, players are only able to scan 5 amiibo a day in the game.

Not only that, but players cannot scan two of the same character amiibo in the game, even though they are different figures. For example, if a player were to scan the Super Smash Bros Link amiibo then try and scan the Breath of the Wild Link amiibo, it would not work. This only works with completely different characters. The rewards are relatively the same regardless of the character.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is such a different take gameplay-wise for telling the origins of the ancient war. It’s pretty neat to be able to play as your favorite champions from Breath of the Wild. The game also contains tons of side missions and objectives for players to complete to keep themselves occupied. This is one of the better prequels done by Nintendo.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available now on Nintendo Switch.
