I Dream Of Jeannie might have been released in the 1960s, but it’s still a much-loved show that makes its audience feel nostalgic. It had memorable characters, like Dr. Bellows, who always managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Tony Nelson, an Astronaut who has a peculiar arrangement with a genie.

What’s your mood today? I’m on week 6 of applying for jobs and it can be quite draining. Combine that with Monday and I’m 100% number 2 🙄 #idreamofjeanniescenes #idreamofjeannie #idoj #jeannie #jeanniemood #barbaraeden #classictv

Jeannie has a brilliant personality that is creatively displayed through her clothing. The pink represents the kind, bubbly side of Jeannie, while the maroon is the headstrong and feisty aspect of Jeannie’s personality.

As soon as Jeannie was freed from her bottle, mundane days became a thing of the past, and Jeannie experienced all kinds of mortal and magical adventures.

9 Mondays Popping Out From Nowhere

Jeannie can disappear and reappear at will, something she had to do often to prevent being discovered. But as soon as Jeannie and Tony became a couple, Jeannie started appearing randomly everywhere, whether it was inside the house or inside NASA.

This video meme shows Tony and Dr. Bellows together before Jeannie suddenly appears and startles them, much like Mondays.

The characters on I Dream Of Jeannie were all different yet relatable, and when the time came for them to interact … well, it led to some pretty funny situations.

More often than not it was Tony and Roger getting into some kind of trouble, Jeannie trying to help, Dr. Bellows coming in at just the right time to see some magic, but not enough evidence to create a feasible examination, and Tony’s explanation. Then there was Jeannie’s sister creating devious plans, and Amanda Bellows taking Jeannie under her wing.

7 When In Doubt … Throw Popcorn

Tony would have to do some pretty crazy things to save his job and Jeannie’s identity. He would wear disguises, invent crazy explanations, run around the base in a panic, and distract witnesses.

He was often caught talking to thin air, in the middle of an odd conversation, or standing next to some kind of unexplainable phenomenon that Jeannie conjured before she disappeared. In the case of this video meme, he had to distract a tattletale by spilling his popcorn.

I Dream Of Jeannie and Bewitched were both sitcoms that featured magical women. They were released one year apart and shared some common plotlines and tropes: the blonde female lead, the brunette sister played by the same actress as the lead, the nosy people who threatened to expose them, an animated title sequence, and mortal men.

They also shared some actors, one of whom was Paul Lynde, who played Uncle Arthur and the driving instructor on Bewitched, as well as several characters on I Dream Of Jeannie.

4 Quarantine

One of the funniest episodes throughout the show’s run was season 4 episode “Jeannie And The Wild Pipchicks.” Jeannie’s mother sent Jeannie some Pipchicks, a candy made with her own secret recipe.

Tony eats one and discovers he has super strength, only for Dr. Bellows to also eat one and ask Tony for the recipe. But the new batch based on Jeannie’s mother’s recipe makes people live out their desires and lose their inhibitions. Dr. Bellows always wanted to be a sailor, leading to this video meme situation.

The show played out scenarios that felt so possible and inevitable in a fictitious world and it combined comedy and magic, making it a fantastical light-hearted romp, adored by many.

2 Always Running

Tony is a hardworking Major, dedicated to doing his best and being in the best condition. His mental and physical health were tested throughout the seasons, as he ran around trying to fix or prevent damning situations that revealed Jeannie’s existence or ruined nationwide projects.

Dr. Bellows kept him under examination at all times, constantly asking “Major Nelson … what are you doing?” Just look at him run here – it’s perfect meme material.
