Jeannie, one of the main characters if not the main character of the classic television series I Dream Of Jeannie, is a magical entity. Basically, she’s a genie. She’s bright and bubbly, fun and cheerful, excitable, and deeply emotional. It goes without saying that she’s the life of the show.

Her character did some pretty amazing things, from the way she treated others, to the magical moments she created on the show.But despite all this, many of her good deeds weren’t appreciated by the characters. For whatever reasons they may have had, here are ten times that the cast of I Dream Of Jeannie didn’t appreciate Jeannie’s best deeds.

10 She Made Tony’s Life Exciting

Jeannie has powers, so things are bound to get stressful and hectic sometimes. In fact, with Doctor Bellows, nosy house guests, and NASA to worry about, hiding Jeannie’s powers is always on Tony’s mind. But as much as she brings stress and chaos into his life, she also makes it exciting. Tony’s life would have been very boring if he hadn’t found her bottle on the beach.

Among seasons worth of adventures, he wouldn’t have done the following cool things: box, be great at golfing, witness magic, meet his ancestors, hold a mod party, have a lion and/or elephant in his living room, travel to Paris for breakfast, float in the air, sing beautifully, and play the piano proficiently.

9 She Stayed In Cocoa Beach

Jeannie could have gone anywhere in the world, but she stayed in Cocoa Beach. She was a kind, happy, bubbly presence. She was always around for Tony and for the viewers. But it’s only when Jeannie’s sister uses magic to make Jeannie hate Tony and love Roger, does Tony appreciate her.

There are several instances where Jeannie isn’t around and the difference it makes is incredible. I Dream Of Jeannie without Jeannie, isn’t much fun. After Tony rejects Jeannie one too many times and she finally decides that it’s time to leave for good, Tony realizes how much he failed to appreciate her.

8 She Fixed The Disaster House

Mr. and Mrs. Bellows had good intentions when they hired an artist to redesign Jeannie and Tony’s home. It was their wedding present for the Tony and Jeannie based on a gift the couple said they loved. Jeannie hated the gift, but Tony told her to say she loved it and that she was obsessed with it, which lead to a total house makeover.

Tony dislikes the design of the house and tries to ruin the art pieces by making it look like a clumsy mistake. But it’s Jeannie who fixes the house in the end, because only she has the means of doing it in the blink of an eye, and she does it with true Jeannie style. Understandably, the artist and Dr. Bellows aren’t as appreciative, but they’re not the ones living there.

7 She Made Every Day A Sunday

Tony works in the Air Force, which is as busy a workplace as anyone could get. He is always working himself to the bone, stressing out, futilely trying to achieve excellence under the watch of his Commanders, and constantly being examined by Dr. Bellows.

So what does Jeannie do? In the Season 2 episode “Always On Sunday,” she gives him a Sunday, but not just one Sunday. She makes every day of the week a Sunday until he feels rested. She even plans relaxing vacations for him from time to time!

6 She Let Tony Live Out His Dreams

The funny thing about Tony is that he never learns to be careful with what he wishes for, despite living with a genie who made just about every dangerous wish of his a reality. Jeannie has powers, and if Tony even mentions wanting something, she’ll use them. Throughout the series, Tony expressed his desire to be a surgeon, search for buried treasure, meet rulers, and the like.

In the Season 2 episode “The Fastest Gun In the East,” Tony is watching a western film and wishes he could go to the Old West. Jeannie sees this as something she can do for him, and why not? Tony gets to experience the life of a cowboy, full of action, adventure and lots of unexpected problems.

5 She Used Her Powers The Way She Wanted

In the Season 1 episode “Jeannie And The Kidnap Caper,” Tony wants Jeannie to stop using her magic to help so much around the house. He makes her promise to say “Tough luck, Charlie” if he ever asks for her help.

Of course, something bad happens to Tony and he needs her help, but she can’t do anything. Tony also gives Jeannie the book ‘The Tales Of The Arabian Nights,’ and doesn’t listen when she tells him she doesn’t want to use it as a guide of how to treat him. In the end, she got to use her abilities in any way she wanted.

4 She Used Her Magic Out Of The Kindness Of Her Heart

Jeannie is incredibly kind and warm-hearted. She is honest and always wants to help people. Sometimes, it made her naive to people’s plots and schemes but most of the time, it was her guide and driving force.

She felt sympathy and compassion for Roger, her sister, and Tony, even though they sometimes took advantage of it or didn’t appreciate her helping others. And although most of her efforts to help went south, like giving a NASA trainer the personality of a sweet aunt or giving a toymaker a secret blueprint, she always had people’s best interests at heart.

3 She Made A Wish-Granting House For Tony & Roger

Tony and Roger are best friends and work partners, but they don’t always see eye to eye, and that’s okay. In the episode “The Indispensable Jeannie,” doubts form about their compatibility as partners during one of their rough spots, and they are made to take a compatibility test.

The two of them aren’t exactly the best in the ways of housework, especially when they aren’t getting along. So Jeannie, who left the two alone, decides to make the house a temporary wish-granting machine.

2 She Helped Roger Find Love

In the Season 5 episode “Jeannie, The Matchmaker,” Jeannie is concerned for Roger, who remains a lonely bachelor and who doesn’t want to intrude on her and Tony.

She takes the time to go to a computer matchmaking service to find him the perfect person and sets the two up on a date. But of course, chaos ensues and the plan is sabotaged when Tony doesn’t know about Jeannie’s set up, and the General wants his niece to spend time with Roger.

1 She Got Everyone Out Of Any Situation

Yes, it’s true that Jeannie is the cause of most of the chaos and shenanigans that ensue, but she’s also the solution, and Tony had his fair share of getting into troublesome scenarios. After all, it’s always easier getting into a situation compared to getting out of one.

The unseen consequences, the unexpected nosy people, and emotional ties always complicate simple intentions. But Jeannie was smart and creative. She could fix any problem and wasn’t afraid to say when she needed help.
