Jurassic World: Dominion star Jeff Goldblum says that the film has assembled such a dynamic cast that the final product is sure to be wondrous. The upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion is the sixth film in the franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s classic Jurassic Park in 1993. This film will be reuniting the cast members from the original film – including Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern – to star alongside the cast of the Jurassic World branch which is led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Jurassic World: Dominion will follow what results from dinosaurs running loose in the mainland United States and is set to stampede into theaters on June 10, 2022.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm is a major character who has been an iconic part of the franchise from day one. Malcolm is a sardonic mathematician and expert on chaos theory, who was originally brought on by Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond to assess the dino theme park for insurance purposes. The character returned in 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park as the lead, and he has already been spotted in the Jurassic World series. Malcolm appeared in a cameo in Fallen Kingdom during a hearing about whether or not the remaining dinosaurs should be destroyed.

Speaking exclusively with Screen Rant, Jeff Goldblum was asked if fans were going to get another iconic Ian Malcolm shot, like the famous and frequently memed image of Goldbum lying back shirtless from the original film. He joked around, saying “I know the famous one. I don’t know, I’ll do my best.” He then went on to extoll the virtues of the cast that has been assembled for the film. He says that in addition to the film featuring “a healthy dose of me,” the amount of talented individuals he got to work with has him “on pins and needles and tenterhooks” for the final project, which should be “exciting and wondrous.” Read the full quote below:

I know the famous one. I don’t know, I’ll do my best. I did my best. I have not seen the finished film, but I’m very excited about it.

I think it’s going to be crackerjack, because not only does it have maybe a healthy dose of me – hopefully not more than you want, but I think there’s a healthy dose – and certainly we can’t get enough of Laura Dern and Bryce Dallas Howard. And Chris Pratt, Sam Neill, but also DeWanda Wise, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, Dichen Lachman, Daniela Pineda, and Justice Smith. They’re all in it.

It’s just a grand cast of – well, it’s not a thousand, but it’s a grand affair. I think that should be exciting and wondrous. I’m on pins and needles and tenterhooks if that’s possible.

Colin Trevorrow, who directed and co-wrote Jurassic World: Dominion with Emily Carmichael, has explained a little bit about what fans can expect to see from these legacy stars. Although they will not be interacting with the current cast of Jurassic World characters for the entire run time, the Jurassic Park crew will be featured heavily and given an equal amount of screen time. Eventually, both sets of characters will likely collide as the dino-fueled chaos reaches its peak.

Jeff Goldblum’s excitement for Jurassic World: Dominion isn’t necessarily a sterling seal of approval, considering that the two previous Jurassic films he appeared in weren’t particularly well received. However, his excitement to jump into the fray and reunite with his previous co-stars will certainly help provide the film with the vital energy it needs to succeed. Ian Malcolm’s energy is important to offset the more serious side of Dern and Neill’s characters, and fans will certainly be enthused to see that dynamic once again.
