Paramount+ has released the trailer and premiere date for iCarly season 2, revealing that Nickelodeon alum Josh Peck has joined the series. The original iCarly series, created by Dan Schnieder, ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons over five years. The show followed Carly, portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove, as she and her friends tried to balance their lives as teenagers with their lives as internet celebrities after creating the titular web series. Paramount+ decided to develop a reboot of the fan-favorite series with a returning cast dealing with their new lives nine years after the events of the original series.

The Paramount+ series had a very successful first season following Carly’s return to her popular web series with her friend Freddie and older brother Spencer. Both Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor returned to their respective roles. New to the series, Laci Mosley portrays Harper, Carly’s new best friend from college, and Jiadyn Triplett portrays Millicent, Freddie’s adopted stepdaughter. With this new cast of characters, the series has covered more adult themes in its first season, unlike its predecessor, having Carly grapple with past romantic relationships and Freddie deal with the struggles of being a parent. The first season of iCarly has been one of the most-streamed series on Paramount+ since its debut and was renewed for a second season in July 2021.

Paramount+ unveiled both a premiere date for iCarly season 2 and a trailer. The trailer showcases Carly still dealing with the romantic tension she received from Wes and Beau at the end of the first season, unable to respond to either of them after they both confessed their feelings for her. It also shows Harper trying to aid Carly with her romantic troubles, Freddy trying to pose as Carly’s boyfriend for the fans, and Spencer practicing what he learned in his three days of law school. However, one of the biggest reveals of this trailer is Josh Peck as Carly’s new manager, Paul. His involvement in the show had been previously announced, but this is the official first look at his new character. The trailer concludes by announcing that the show will be returning to the streaming platform on April 8, 2022.

This trailer has fans excited for all the possibilities the second season of iCarly could contain. Josh Peck joining the cast is a thrill for fans of Nickelodeon back when the original show was airing. Miranda Cosgrove and Josh Peck were co-stars on one of Nickelodeon’s most successful live-action shows, Drake & Josh, also created by Dan Schnieder. Miranda Cosgrove portrayed Megan, Josh’s younger stepsister, and the two would constantly but heads resulting in one of the show’s most comedic dynamics. With how Josh Peck portrays his new character in the iCarly trailer, fans can get excited that this dynamic may soon be returning to their screens.

This trailer is also exciting for new fans as it appears many of the show’s major plot points will be further expanded on in this new season. The love triangle between Carly, Wes, and Beau seems as though it will still be a central theme, with one of the first scenes in the trailer being them asking Carly who she is dating live on their web show. This shows that fans can safely get invested in the show’s new characters and plot points rather than fear that they will be thrown to the wayside in favor of nostalgia and returning characters. iCarly season 2 appears as though it will deliver another exciting, well-balanced season, and fans can begin to get excited as the Paramount+ April 8, 2022 premiere draws closer.
