One talented Far Cry 5 level editor has managed to recreate one of Skyrim‘s most impressive cities. Both popular franchises have new installments in the works with Far Cry 6 supposedly coming out sometime in 2021 after being pushed back from its original release date. There is even less information available indicating when The Elder Scrolls 6 will come out.

A version of level editor has existed throughout the Far Cry series since Far Cry 2, and it essentially allows players to create maps for online play both multiplayer and solo. As hardware and graphics continue to improve, the creations that come out of level editor look more and more impressive with each updated version. Ubisoft has yet to reveal if level editor will continue with Far Cry 6, but the game developer usually keeps that information a secret until a Far Cry title is near launch. Until then, Far Cry 5 has the most updated version of level editor and talented fans are still producing quality content with it three years after the game’s release.

YouTuber Mojo Swoptops seems to take Far Cry’s level editor much further than most and has built their entire channel around recreating both real-world and fantastical locations. The most recent creation comes from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the form of the capital city of Solitude. Mojo Swoptops showcases their entire process sped up to just under four minutes before revealing the final product at a low angle from the docks beneath the city. Using their Reddit account, mojoswoptops2020 also posted a still image of the completed Solitude for fans to admire.

Mojo Swoptops began showcasing their work on YouTube in 2018 around the time Far Cry 5 was released. Back then, however, they were using Far Cry 4‘s level editor and the first thing created was a nonspecific wild west setting. Over time, Mojo Swoptops’ creations have become much more ambitious and have crossed over with many intellectual properties including Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda, and many more.

The ever diversifying landscape of fan art has truly produced some awe-inspiring results in recent years. Ubisoft unintentionally created a new medium for talented artists to express their love of intellectual properties such as Skyrim and it only exists as an added feature to one of its own pre-existing franchises. No matter what players think of the upcoming Far Cry 6, it will likely have the best version of level editor to date due to the improved technology. If for some reason that is not the case, or if Ubisoft discontinues the feature, then at least players will still have it in Far Cry 5 and earlier installments.
