There is some debate amongst Marvel Cinematic Universe fans as to just which television properties prior to the launch of Disney Plus are part of the MCU. One thing fans can point to with near certainty is that the single-season series Inhumans isn’t. The show, meant to explore the royal family of the Inhumans, didn’t land well with fans and featured no connective tissue to other Marvel properties, despite Inhumans already being introduced in Agents Of SHIELD.

Though the story might not have resonated with the audience, it did feature quite a few unique power sets in its large cast of characters. Most of the characters took inspiration from their comic book counterparts, creating some incredibly powerful people – if only they’d been able to stick around in the MCU.

10 Maximus

Known as Maximus the Mad in the comics, this Inhuman is the brother of the man who becomes king – Black Bolt. While he does have incredibly powerful telepathic abilities in Marvel comics, those abilities aren’t present in the television series at all. For the rest of the Inhuman royal family, Maximus appears to be a normal human.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t powerful though. Maximus manages to lead a coup, getting most of the royal guard on his side, and getting the better of both Medusa and Black Bolt. He doesn’t succeed in becoming the permanent ruler of his people, but he certainly comes pretty close with his deft manipulation of events to his advantage.

9 Auran

Auran is an incredibly tough Inhuman soldier. She’s a strong fighter who allies herself with Maximus and becomes the head of the royal guard as a result. Auran’s Inhuman ability appears to be immortality. Every time she’s killed, she comes back to life.

Of course, there’s a cost to that, and it doesn’t seem infinite. Every time Auran is resurrected, it takes a little bit longer, and the process is a little more painful. She also comes to realize that she’s not as influential as she might believe – and that she’s been doing little more than follow orders, allowing Maximus to manipulate her as much as he’s manipulated others.

8 Flora

Flora doesn’t get a lot of screen time in the television series, which is a shame, because if she did, the audience might have a better idea of her power level. The only reason she ranks so low is because it’s not clear in the show just how strong her powers are.

Flora, as her name implies, has the ability to manipulate and control plants. She makes a few leaves grow and flowers bloom, but other than that, she doesn’t get to do much. Instead, Flora spends most of her time blending into a larger group of Inhumans. She had the potential to be as powerful as DC’s Poison Ivy.

7 Triton

Though Triton is supposed to be an incredibly powerful fighter, and his character was used in much of the marketing for the series, he doesn’t actually appear much in the show. He’s presumed dead in the first episode and doesn’t appear again right away.

The character is an amphibious Inhuman. His ability to survive underwater allows for him to sneak around on Earth undetected for the most part. He’s also an incredibly adept assassin, but he doesn’t have the same social standing as his brother Karnak.

6 Karnak

Karnak’s power in Inhumans is a bit more cerebral than the rest of the characters. He sees the flaws in everything. Karnak’s power is, quite literally, being able to see how anything around him can fall apart. It means that he comes across as a bit of a pessimist.

As a result of his power set, Karnak is great at hand-to-hand combat, but he’s also a high ranking official among Inhuman royalty. Black Bolt and Medusa rely on Karnak as their chief advisor, which gives him quite a bit of social power, even if he doesn’t have physical power.

5 Gorgon

He might not be the first Inhuman to come to mind when the audience thinks of power, but Gorgon is certainly one of the strongest Inhumans. He’s a bit impulsive, but the cousin to the royal family is the original leader of the royal guard, and he has a strong stance to hold his position.

Gorgon has hooves for feet that he can use to create seismic waves. He’s also stronger than the average Inhuman, making him an important part of Black Bolt and Medusa’s security force. When he’s compromised, no one feels safe. He commands the respect of the guard almost as easily as he uses his stomping feet.

4 Lockjaw

Unlike the rest of the Inhumans, Lockjaw isn’t someone who has human DNA in his system. He’s the only Inhuman in the series to actually be a dog. He’s not just any dog though; Lockjaw can teleport to anywhere.

It’s that teleportation skill that makes him incredibly powerful, but also his ability to understand the Inhumans asking for his help. He has a particular bond with Crystal, the younger sister of the queen. When she speaks to him, Lockjaw always seems to understand exactly what she’s saying and know just where to take her.

3 Medusa

If this were the comic books, Medusa might be in the top spot for power. She revolutionizes the Inhuman monarchy and their relationship with humanity. In the series, however, she doesn’t quite get that far. Instead, she spends most of the time searching Hawaii for her husband, and she does it without her powers.

Medusa has hair that acts as a fifth appendage. She can command her hair to be used even more dexterously than she can use her own hands. When she’s robbed of that as her head is shaved during the coup, Medusa has to learn how to get along without the power she’s become so accustomed to. She doesn’t just manage to get by, she thrives, making friends, uniting her people, and tracking down Black Bolt.

2 Crystal

Some fans might be skeptical of Crystal ranking so high in power. The youngest member of the royal family in Inhumans, Crystal is also the most naive, and the one still learning the most about her own power set. She isn’t just one of the most powerful in the show though; Crystal is one of the most powerful women in Marvel comics as a whole.

Her abilities allow her to manipulate the elements. Earth, air, fire, and water all bend to her will. She’s essentially the Avatar as long as she can muster up enough control. The trouble is that Crystal isn’t consistent with her control. If she was, she’d definitely be the most powerful in the show.

1 Black Bolt

The king of the Inhumans inspires a lot of loyalty among his people. Though his and Medusa’s relationship is originally arranged for them by their parents, they grow to love one another. Medusa isn’t the only one that goes to Earth to look for him during the coup either. Crystal, Gorgon, Karnak, and Triton all work to track down their king and return him to the throne.

Black Bolt isn’t just powerful when it comes to Inhuman society though. His voice is so powerful that he has to remain in absolute control to not make any noise unless he plans on destroying whatever his words are aimed at. A whisper can shatter an object. If he screamed, he could tear apart the planet.
