Injustice creator Ed Boon has stated that he still has interest in seeing Zack Snyder’s take on the story. Zack Snyder, director of three DCEU movies including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, had a very divisive run of DC movies. Snyder had planned on making at least two more Justice League films that would’ve loosely adapted Injustice, a story that proposes a world where Superman breaks bad and becomes a tyrant.

The movies were scrapped after a soured relationship between the director and Warner Bros., but fans still hope to see the director’s vision get realized. DC is making an official animated adaptation of Injustice, but it certainly won’t be the same as seeing Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill returning with their capes on. One key fan, Ed Boon, is still longing to see this version of the story hit the silver screen.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Boon, director of the Injustice games, as well as the Mortal Kombat series, spoke out on Twitter, expressing excitement for the upcoming animated adaptation of Injustice that DC is doing, but noted interest in Zack Snyder’s version as well. Of course, it seems unlikely that Zack Snyder will ever get the opportunity to revisit this story on the big screen, but it definitely seems to indicate that Boon liked Snyder’s general vision. Snyder himself confirmed he was inspired by Injustice when making the “Knightmare” scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although similar scenes in Zack Snyder’s Justice League make things seem even more grim than in the game, it definitely appears that he would’ve continued to take various pieces from the game.

In the game, Superman essentially turns evil after Lois Lane is killed by the Joker. Superman ends up killing the clown out of anger and revenge, starting his descent. In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a vision of the future seems to imply that Lois Lane gets killed, and Darkseid uses this vision to manipulate Superman. What might have transpired after what was seen in the vision is largely unknown.

As for Boon, NetherRealm may be working on another game within the DC sphere unrelated to Injustice. It’s been heavily rumored that the studio is developing a Marvel vs. DC game, something that fans have longed to see for many years. Whether or not this is actually happening is unknown as of right now, but given how long the rumors have been around, there’s a definite chance that it will be NetherRealm’s next title, if it’s real.
