Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard (makers of Diablo 4) by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Unfortunately, Diablo 4 is still a long way off, but dismayed action RPG fans still have a lot of games to play including Path of Exile. Makers of the Diablo series, Activision Blizzard, confirmed Diablo 4 was delayed again and won’t come out in 2022. So fans are going to have to wait a while, but luckily, there are plenty of options for the action RPG aficionado. There are already several highly anticipated games coming in 2022, and if that isn’t enough, there are all kinds of older games worth checking out.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Titan Quest is now over fifteen years old but is still getting new content. The most recent expansion, Eternal Embers, released at the end of 2021. Last year also saw the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected, which remakes the original game with updated graphics and some quality-of-life improvements. Other lesser-known titles like Grim Dawn also offer the classic loot-piñata gameplay Diablo is known for.

There is also the newly launched MMO Lost Ark, which broke Steam records, though it is still having login issues as is common with new games. One of the most enduringly popular action RPGs on the market is Path of Exile. It is a free-to-play game, but has excellent value considering the sheer amount of content within it. The game makes its money through cosmetics and various quality-of-life improvements like extra stashes for the massive number of items in the game. Path of Exile has regular content releases, the newest of which is titled Siege of the Atlas.

Path Of Exile’s New Content, Siege Of The Atlas, Should Satisfy Diablo 4 Fans

Path of Exile has a rewarding gameplay loop that offers plenty more content even after beating its final boss. According to some, this is where Path of Exile truly begins to shine. Siege of the Atlas, like Path of Exile’s prior Echoes of the Atlas, reworks endgame content. The game has had many leagues over the years, with each offering new gameplay elements playable alongside the main story. When players beat the final boss at the end of the game’s 10 acts, things open up even further, and players can choose their favorite content to pursue, such as Delve, which has them fighting their way through mines where darkness is lethal. Or perhaps they want to face down the Immortal Syndicate, with members that don’t stay dead for long. Or maybe players just want to grow a garden – that is to say, a garden full of seeds that sprout monsters. This peculiar game mechanic was introduced in Path of Exile‘s Harvest league. Gardening is not what players normally think of when playing games such as these, but Path of Exile found a way to make it work.

The game’s massive skill tree is already a well-known quantity for many, but it’s not as complicated as it looks, since it has skills for every character class in the game. Siege of the Atlas adds a new passive skill tree, giving players even more ways to customize their builds. Add new weapons, armor, and other items, and there is plenty of content to hold players over for a long time, at least until Path of Exile releases their next update in a few months – likely long before Diablo 4 finally reaches the public.
