Prime Video’s Invincible gained acclaim for its satirical and philosophical take on the superhero genre, bolstered by the voice talents of Steven Yeun, JK Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, and many more. Considering that Prime renewed it for two more seasons since its debut, it’s clear that Invincible is another perfect addition to the new wave of gritter comic-book adaptations on streaming.

Closely resembling the Image Comics series it is based on, Invincible also introduced many recurring characters who were in turn voiced by prominent acting personalities, ranging from Mahershala Ali to Ezra Miller. Other guest stars like Mae Whitman and Fred Tatasciore went on to voice multiple characters throughout the series.

10 Jon Hamm: Steve

Jon Hamm’s voice opens the pilot episode as viewers get a glimpse of Steve, a Secret Service agent who’s assigned to monitor the White House. As is evident from his conversation with a fellow Agent, Steve has issues adjusting with his stepson who’s not yet ready to accept him as his father.

In the follow-up episode, Steve is shown touring Buckingham Palace with his stepson. When a clash between superhumans takes place, the latter grows concerned and ends up calling Steve ‘Dad’. Even though Jon Hamm’s character doesn’t appear again, the Mad Men actor is still being associated with Invincible as several live-action fan-castings favor him for the role of Omni-Man.

9 Mae Whitman: Connie

Mae Whitman appears briefly as Connie, one of War Woman’s co-workers. Her relationship goes beyond the Guardians of the Globe as she also shares a relationship with War Woman aka Holly (Lauren Cohan). So, naturally, when Omni-Man (JK Simmons) kills her partner and the rest of her team, Connie grows enraged and tries her best to figure out the perpetrator behind her death.

Whitman has had prior voice acting experience voicing Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender and Wonder Girl in Young Justice, among other credits. Along with Connie, she also voices the antagonistic siblings Drop Kick and Fightmaster.

8 Reginald VelJohnso: Principal Winslow

Mark Grayson’s (Steven Yeun) high-school principal is a character who doesn’t just resemble Reginald VelJohnson but is also voiced by him. In fact, the high school itself is named after VelJohnson and the character’s name is a direct reference to the actor’s previous role of Carl Winslow from Family Matters.

Seeing Grayson’s falling grades and irregular school behavior (owing to his superhero commitments), Principal Winslow can be seen advising him to be a better student. Other than Family Matters, the actor is most popularly known for his turn as LAPD Sgt Al Powell in the first two Die Hard films.

7 Seth Rogen: Allen The Alien

Seth Rogen’s cameo shouldn’t come off as a surprise given that he also serves as executive producer for Invincible. Rogen has had a tendency to produce other hyperviolent and gritty comic-book adaptations like The Boys and Preacher. When it comes to Invincible, Rogen voiced Allen, an alien whose homeworld was conquered by the Viltrumite race.

He spends his time touring outer space, assessing planets as candidates for the Coalition of Planets. Introduced in a humorous encounter with Invincible, he becomes his friend as is evident from the finale in which both discuss their future plans ad the history of the Viltrumites.

6 Mahershala Ali: Titan

Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali’s previous trysts with a comic-book character were playing the villain Cottonmouth in Luke Cage and voicing Prowler in Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse. Similar to that character, Titan is also an anti-hero. He might be a henchman for crimelords but he engages in such work only to sustain a future for his family. His superhuman ability includes turning his skin into a regenerative layer of stone armor.

When he meets Invincible, he decides to use his help in defeating his boss Machine Head (Jeffrey Donovan). This results in a drastic story arc that culminates with Titan himself taking over Machine Head’s empire.

5 Justin Roiland: Doug Cheston

Justin Roiland is no stranger to voicing intoxicated characters, given his talent in voicing the alcoholic scientist Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. In an Invincible episode, he yet again voices a drunk character, an Upstate University student called Doug Cheston. Cheston is seen drinking from a bottle and asking women to sleep with him.

When the women reject his advances, he goes on boasting about his fancy upbringing owing to a rich father. Given his drunken state, he becomes an easy victim for DA Sinclair to kidnap and operate upon. Sinclair’s experiments ultimately turn Cheston into a homicidal cyborg.

4 Ezra Miller: DA Sinclair

DA Sinclair is the textbook definition of a mad scientist. He’s proud of his knowledge, looks down upon others, and sees human beings as nothing but experiments. He harbors an interest in reconfiguring human bodies turning them into his robotic slaves.

After Invincible thwarts his plans, he’s hired by Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) to oversee an army of ‘Reanimen’ as a contingency plan to counter Omni-Man’s violent outbursts. Ezra Miller voices the character with a remarkable chillness that adds to the mysterious aura of the character.

3 Djimon Honsou: Martian Emperor

In the Mars-centric episode, Invincible and a few American astronauts are held captive by the locals who seem to be living in a monarchical society with their ruler simply credited as Martian Emperor. Invincible is surprised that the aliens can communicate in English only for the Emperor to reveal that they speak in Martian (revealing that both languages are the same).

Honsou has had many dramatic feature film roles but in the superhero genre, he has carved a niche with his cameos. These roles include films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Shazam, and Aquaman.

2 Jonathan Groff: Rich Sheridan

In the same episode that introduced Roiland and Miller’s characters, Jonathan Groff’s Rich Sheridan makes an appearance. A bright medical student at Upstate University, he is also romantically interested in William (Andrew Rannells) who visits the University to spend a few days with him. Unfortunately, this visit proves to be disastrous given how DA Sinclair finds Rich to be an ‘alpha male’ and converts him into another one of his ‘Renanimen’.

Groff is famous for voicing Kristoff and his reindeer Sven in the Frozen franchise. When it comes to drama roles, his most popular screen credit will arguably be that of FBI Special Agent Holden Ford in Mindhunter.

1 Fred Tatasciore: Adam Wilkins/Kill Cannon

Fred Tatasciore is a seasoned veteran in voice-acting, having provided additional voices in a plethora of animated shows other than voicing main characters. In Invincible, he gets the most runtime as Adam Wilkins, the hot-headed father of Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) who wishes that his daughter focuses less on her world-saving activities.

Tatsciore also voices Kill Cannon, the first villain that Invincible encounters. As his name suggests, he relies on a hand cannon as a weapon. Outside the show, he’s well-known for voicing the Marvel superhero Hulk in multiple Marvel animated shows like Avengers: The World’s Mightiest Heroes, and Ultimate Spider-Man.
