Warning: This post contains spoilers for Invincible Season 1 finale, “Where I Really Come From.”

A YouTuber has unveiled a recreation of the epic fight scene from the season finale of Amazon’s Invincible between the titular hero and his super-powered father Omni-Man in the online mode of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V. Created by Robert Kirkman based on his graphic novels of the same name, the series centers on teenager Mark Grayson as he begins to develop super powers and undergoes training from his father Nolan, who is the world’s most powerful superhero, Omni-Man, but is hiding a dark secret. The ensemble voice cast for the series included Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Zazie Beetz, Walton Goggins, Andrew Rannells, and Zachary Quinto.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The day after the season finale aired, in which Mark finally learned his father killed the Guardians of the Globe and he was sent to Earth by his race to prepare for a future invasion, the series was renewed for a second and third season by Amazon. A mod for Grand Theft Auto Online was recently released by The Darth Knight on Patreon that allowed players to take on the mantle of Omni-Man and fly through the skies of Los Santos. Some eight years since its original release, GTA V continues to be a mammoth success and leader in the gaming industry, reaching over 145 million copies sold worldwide this month and selling more copies in 2020 than any other year since its 2013 debut.

YouTuber TK Rebirth revealed their usage of another mod made by KWABZModding in an effort to recreate the epic fight between Invincible and Omni-Man from the season 1 finale. Shown from the perspective of the titular hero, the footage offers an impressive look at the mod’s functions as well as the accurate models of the characters themselves. The recreated fight can be viewed below:

The world of superhero video games is in desperate need of a title with an engaging flight mechanic, namely one centered around the Man of Steel himself. Though the mod looks to still have a bit of the physics and lag jank associated with Grand Theft Auto Online, it does at least show that there is definitely interest in such a playstyle and there are those out there who know how to do it. With the recent WarnerMedia and Discovery merger, the future of Superman and WB Games is very much anyone’s guess, which means this pulse-pounding mod may be the closest fans can get to a superhero flight simulator.

Nearly a decade since its original release and between fan modifiers and ongoing downloadable content packs, it’s no wonder Grand Theft Auto V and its online mode continue to dominate the multiplayer market, even if gamers are eager to see what a potential GTA 6 has in store for them. While some may still be reeling from the jaw-dropping finale of Invincible, some might want to try and use the mod to change the output for their own happy ending. Even if they don’t, the wait for how the show will address it shouldn’t be long with season 2 likely to premiere next year.
