Warning: Spoilers for Moon Knight episode 2

Due to sharing the same color, Ammit’s purple magic in Moon Knight has drawn comparisons to the Power Stone. First seen in Guardians of the Galaxy, the purple Infinity Stone possesses an abundance of destructive energy that can be unleashed as a potent weapon. In the comics and the movies, it’s been used both for that purpose and for dramatically increasing the strength of the one who wields it.

A seemingly all-new form of energy was introduced in Moon Knight through Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), who now acts as the avatar of Ammit, an Egyptian deity with ties to the underworld. To serve her goals, Arthur uses a staff that possesses a fraction of her power. With it, Arthur is able to summon jackals to fight Moon Knight. When in use, the staff conjures up purple energy that teases what Ammit is truly capable of in the MCU. What Arthur accomplished with just a small piece of her power demonstrates just how dangerous Ammit would be if he ever succeeded in reviving her. It could take a lot more than Moon Knight to stop her from wiping out everyone she perceives as evil.

In the Disney+ series, the purple magic that Ammit controls in the MCU curiously resembles the energy of the Power Stone. Of course, the Power Stone is gone forever, as it was destroyed in Avengers: Endgame. However, that doesn’t rule out a connection between them. The form of cosmic, destructive energy that resided within the MCU’s Power Stone may exist elsewhere in the universe. Since so little is known about where the Stones actually come from, it isn’t impossible that this ancient Egyptian goddess shares it as well, which would have serious implications for Ammit’s power level in the MCU.

Alternatively, it may be that her power is linked in some way with what Agatha Harkness channeled from the Darkhold in WandaVision. Agatha’s ancient spellbook houses powerful, purple magic that could very well be the same form of energy that Arthur’s staff used in Moon Knight episode 2. After all, this form of power may not be unique to Agatha or the character who created the Darkhold. Other magical entities could potentially have the means to draw upon this mysterious energy source. Ammit could be one of several who wields these strange magical energies.

As Moon Knight continues, a thorough explanation could be offered in regards to what Ammit’s power actually is. If the Egyptian underworld exists as a separate dimension in the MCU, it’s certainly plausible that Ammit’s power stems directly from that, which would naturally distinguish it from both the Darkhold and the Power Stone. The purple magic’s full capabilities could be on display in later episodes if Arthur finding the scarab leads to Ammit’s resurrection in Moon Knight.
