Is Charlize Theron’s Cold War action thriller Atomic Blonde on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime? Charlize Theron is an actress who likes to jump across genres and is equally at home in goofy comedies or intense dramas. In recent years she’s had a run of big action films, including becoming an instant icon with Mad Max: Fury Road’s Imperator Furiosa. She also played the main villain Cipher in The Fate Of The Furious and will return for the upcoming sequel F9.

In 2017 Charlize Theron played the lead in Atomic Blonde, which was adapted from the graphic novel The Coldest City. Theron played British spy Lorraine Broughton in the film, which also boasted a supporting cast that included James McAvoy, Sofia Boutella, and John Goodman. While Atomic Blonde received mixed reviews for its overly convoluted plot and confusing twists, it was praised for Theron’s central performance and its bone-crunching action setpieces. That’s down to the movie being helmed by former stunt performer and John Wick co-director David Leitch, who went on to direct spinoff Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Atomic Blonde was particularly acclaimed for a grueling stairway fight scene that appears to take place in one single, unbroken take. It was one of the best action setpieces of 2017 and is reason alone to recommend the movie. For action fans wanting to watch – or even revisit – Atomic Blonde, sadly it’s not currently available on platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu.

Atomic Blonde is available to rent or purchase from a variety of platforms. It can be rented from prices beginning at $2.99 from Redbox, Google Play, iTunes, or Amazon. It can also be bought from $9.99 on Vudu, Amazon, YouTube, and Google Play. It was recently revealed that Atomic Blonde 2 is in development at Netflix as an exclusive movie, with Charlize Theron returning. Given the reveals surrounding her character Lorraine at the end of the original, it should be interesting to see where she goes next.

There’s also been talk of Atomic Blonde crossing over with the John Wick franchise. This would make a certain amount of sense, especially since Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron are good friends, having co-starred in The Devil’s Advocate and Sweet November previously; they also trained together while prepping for John Wick: Chapter 2 and Atomic Blonde. The only possible issue with a crossover would be the timeline, with the John Wick series seemingly taking place in the modern-day, while Atomic Blonde was set in 1989.
