Paulie Calafiore has shown Big Brother and The Challenge fans evidence of his athleticism, and he may be about to show the whole world, as he is reportedly in training for the Olympics.

While he hasn’t been able to bring home a win yet, there is no doubt that Paulie Calafiore’s made a mark for himself in reality TV. The New Jersey native is no stranger to competitive sports, either. He had a standout college soccer career playing soccer for Rutgers University.  Soccer, like reality TV, seems to run in the family. Paulie’s younger brother Cody is taking a second run at Big Brother on the current All-Stars season. Cody also played college soccer at Monmouth University and Temple University.

However, it isn’t soccer that the older Calafiore brother is training for, it’s bobsledding. So, how does a soccer-playing, martial arts-practicing reality TV star from New Jersey end up with his sights set on the Olympic bobsled team? According to TMZ, when asked by the coaches, Calafiore said his exposure to bobsledding consisted of having “watched ‘Cool Runnings’ as a kid.” That doesn’t sound like the right pathway to the Olympics, but having the right friends, plenty of athletic talent, and the drive to train hard (and learn) seem to help.

Calafiore’s friend Lolo Jones, who herself appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and The Challenge, appears to have been the one who helped him get his foot in the door. Jones, an Olympic hurdler, once made the unlikely move to the U.S. National Bobsled Team. This move made Jones one of only a small number of athletes to compete in both Summer and Winter Olympics. The move was successful, as she went on to win Gold with her team. This experience made her uniquely qualified to recommend Calafiore to the Team USA coaches. TMZ reports that these coaches gave him a call back in May.

Anyone following Calafiore’s social media has watched him bulk up quite a bit in the time since then. He even recently posted a video on Twitter that included time sprints, which showed he was working on his speed. You can check out that video above. While many fans were disappointed Paulie was not on Big Brother All-Stars this season, some wonder if he’ll be back on The Challenge any time soon. Turns out now fans will be waiting to see if Paulie’s Olympic dreams become reality in February 2022 in Beijing.
